Background / History

Olvia left Ohara when Robin was two years old to research Poneglyphs and the Void Century. During her travels, the Marines captured her and learned that Ohara’s scholars were studying the forbidden century. She returned to the island to warn Dr. Clover that CP9 had been ordered to investigate and that the World Government would destroy Ohara if the research were confirmed. 10

After six years apart, Olvia immediately recognized Robin when her daughter ran into her arms at the Tree of Knowledge. She denied being Robin’s mother despite her grief, believing that acknowledging the relationship would endanger Robin. 10

CP9 captured Olvia during the Buster Call. Robin’s public declaration that she could read Poneglyphs forced Olvia to abandon her denial and openly acknowledge her daughter, though she was unable to escape with her. 12 13

Even after reuniting with Robin, Olvia chose to remain at the Tree of Knowledge and help preserve Ohara’s documents. She entrusted Robin to Ye Chen before returning to the library amid the bombardment. 14

Ye Chen later found Olvia severely wounded beside the lake where Ohara’s scholars had thrown their books. When Aokiji froze the lake to preserve the documents, Ye Chen and Olvia survived beneath the ice and subsequently hid under Saul’s frozen body. The Marines unknowingly transported them with Saul to Impel Down’s Freezing Hell. 15 17

In Freezing Hell, Olvia became dependent on Ye Chen’s protection while suffering from injuries, hunger, extreme cold, and recurring fever. He obtained wolf pelts and meat for her, traded with prisoners for medical knowledge and supplies, and crossed the wolf-infested forest to retrieve Cold Fragrance Grass and Blood Lotus for her treatment. 18 19 20 23 24

Golden Lion freed Olvia after Ye Chen knelt and begged for her release. She escaped Impel Down with Ye Chen and Golden Lion, then reached Sabaody Archipelago under Marco’s escort. 32 33 35
