When the Five Elders received the report that Smoker had taken two Pacifistas to hunt down Ye Chen without authorization, the five old men stared at one another, dumbfounded.
They knew exactly how serious the consequences could be. Every Celestial Dragon on the island was precious, yet Smoker had taken Pacifistas into the streets to arrest someone.
"How many Celestial Dragons were hurt?"
The white-haired elder looked at the Marine who had brought the news. His voice trembled badly.
This was every bit as bad as the last time Ye Chen had gone on a killing spree in the Holy Land. He had slaughtered Saint Basande's entire family. Not one of the hundred or so Celestial Dragons had survived. He had even deliberately pulled out the oxygen tube of Nalandesheng's father.
Though Ye Chen was ultimately the cause of this disaster too, at least he had not attacked the Celestial Dragons himself. They had all died at the hands of the Pacifistas.
That meant Smoker would have to take the blame. The Celestial Dragons would not care about the distinction, though. Marine Headquarters would be held responsible, and the Five Elders would not escape blame either.
"So far, twenty are seriously injured and seventy-eight are dead!"
"Damn it! That idiot Smoker! Go tell Behemoth to arrest him at once!"
Arresting Smoker would not fully quell the anger of the Nineteen Great Royal Families, but it might at least calm the Celestial Dragons somewhat. The Five Elders wisely decided to sacrifice Smoker to protect themselves.
For now, they had no choice but to send someone after Smoker. As for Ye Chen, they were afraid of what he might do and had no way to deal with him.
