Sugar was furious. Her face turned livid, her expression vicious.
Before Ye Chen could pry Perona's little hands off him, Sugar lunged. She might have been petite, but she was anything but slow.
That much was clear in the Original Work: the Tontatta moved at astonishing speeds, yet stood no chance against Sugar.
A cold gust swept toward him. In the blink of an eye, Sugar's hand came down. Ye Chen was about to strike back when a warning jolted through him. He hurriedly dodged, taking Perona with him.
His Mind Reading had picked up one urgent warning from Perona: Whatever you do, don't let Sugar touch you!
Ye Chen's Mind Reading did not work on Sugar. She was far from weak, and the technique only worked on people considerably weaker than he was. But after being turned into a toy, Perona had less than a tenth of her original strength, so he could read her mind without trouble.
Ye Chen did not know what Sugar's power was, but Perona's sudden transformation had already put him on guard. He had used Mind Reading on her to find out what had happened.
