"Ah... I killed someone! Pops! Pops!"
Spandam finally came to his senses, but it was too late. No matter how loudly he wailed, Spandine would never come back to life.
After crying for a while, he noticed the Marines staring blankly at him. He was about to glare at them when an idea struck him. Tears immediately poured down his face. "Pops, I really didn't mean to! Your gun must have broken on its own."
With that, Spandam hurriedly wiped the tears from his face.
Not that he had shed many. He scrambled to his feet in a huff, and the Marines aboard the warship witnessed a bizarre sight.
Spandam cursed without pause, slamming the pistol against the deck again and again. "You broken gun... You murderer! I'll make you pay!"

After watching for a while, everyone sighed helplessly. Spandam kept up his one-man performance, even clutching the gun as he tumbled across the deck. Still not satisfied, he finally threw it into the sea.
"Pops, you can rest in peace now. I've avenged you."
Spandam dusted off his hands, secretly delighted. Even if Headquarters sent someone to investigate, all he had to do was insist the gun was faulty and had suddenly gone off by itself. No one would suspect him. The gun was in the sea, so there was no evidence left to contradict him. He had nothing to fear.
But Spandam noticed that every Marine aboard the warship was looking at him like he was an idiot.
His story was so obviously fake that only a ghost would believe it. Then again, given Spandam's intelligence, this was about the best lie he could come up with.
