Once he had safely disabled the mechanism, Kuro spat on the floor, picked up his backpack, and left the room.
"Kuro?"
Kuro had barely left the room when he ran into Ye Chen's group. Ye Chen greeted him with a smile. "Are you all right?"
Kuro shook his head and tossed Ye Chen the backpack. "I'm fine. There's plenty of food and water in there. Oh, and I killed Chris."
Ye Chen took the news calmly. He had always had faith in his companions. Kuro was the strategist he had handpicked; when it came to sheer intelligence, few people in the world could match him.
In fact, at least two of Ye Chen's companions ranked among the ten smartest people he knew. One was Kuro, whom Oda himself had acknowledged as a man second only to Benn Beckman in intelligence. The other was Nami. She might still be young, but no one should underestimate how sharp she was.
"Come on. Let's take a look!"
Ye Chen was curious about Chris. Even dead, he wanted to see him for himself. Qiu Ze looked utterly incredulous. However strong Kuro was, Qiu Ze could not believe he had killed Chris.
They returned to the room, and only when Qiu Ze saw Chris's body did he believe it.
"You really are something. I never thought you'd kill that old monster, much less beat him at his own game."
Qiu Ze could not stop marveling. As a Game Devil Fruit user, Chris had to be a genius at games. Yet he had lost to Kuro.
That, in turn, proved just how frighteningly intelligent Kuro was.
Kuro showed no sign of pride. Instead, he snorted impatiently. "I killed Chris.
