"Where did this wild child come from? Robin, who is he?"
Luo Ji and her husband came charging over with a mop in hand, glaring furiously at Ye Chen as they barked a question at Robin.
Seeing her aunt's eyes widened round with fury and her menacing, cannibalistic expression, Robin hurriedly backed away several steps in fright. Heavy rain poured outside. Just as Luo Ji was about to rush into the house, Ye Chen shoved her back out.
"Ow... Thud!"
Luo Ji's bulky body lost its balance, and she fell to the ground. The driving rain immediately drenched her from head to toe. Before long, she was soaked like a drowned rat, shivering from the cold and coughing nonstop.
Having just climbed to her feet, Luo Ji raised the mop and charged at Ye Chen. Ye Chen ducked low, his skinny body nimbly slipping aside to evade the mop. Unable to stop herself, Luo Ji rushed forward, only for Ye Chen to suddenly stick out a leg and block her path. Thud! Luo Ji immediately sprawled face-first onto the ground, landing in a humiliating ass-up position. Even her fleshy double chin smacked solidly against the ground.
"Ow... That hurts like hell! You little bastard, damn you! What are you standing there for? Grab him already!"
Luo Ji cursed furiously, lying on the ground and howling in pain. Seeing her husband still stupidly standing off to the side, she became even more enraged.
Ye Chen coldly glared at Robin's uncle, letting rainwater stream down his cheeks without blinking, his expression proud and unyielding. "So you're Robin's uncle? You don't like me smashing your window, but when you cruelly abuse your own niece without a shred of humanity, doesn't that deserve death?"
"Doesn't it?"
When Robin's uncle remained silent, Ye Chen gathered all his strength and roared at him again.
Turning, Ye Chen rushed into the house and grabbed the black, stinking piece of bread. He waved it twice in front of Robin's uncle. "You make a child eat something like this, and you still call yourselves human? Why the hell don't you eat it yourselves? Listen up: if you ever dare bully Robin again, I'll beat you every time I see you. My name is Ye Chen. If you've got the guts, come after me. Bullying a girl—what the hell kind of men are you? Get lost, now!"
Robin's uncle had already been feeling guilty. Seeing Ye Chen as fierce as a tiger, he immediately lost his nerve. He hurriedly pulled Luo Ji up from the ground and turned to leave. Luo Ji kept yammering about settling the score with Ye Chen, but when she saw him pick up another brick, she ran faster than a rabbit.
"You scum wearing human skin. Hmph!" After shooting the two of them a disdainful glance, Ye Chen dragged his drenched body back into Robin's wooden hut.
"Achoo!"
Having been soaked in the rain for too long, Ye Chen sneezed the moment he entered. Yet the fury in his heart still burned fiercely, and he wanted nothing more than to kill those two inhuman creatures.
Robin stared blankly at Ye Chen. After a while, she quickly calmed down. "You hit my aunt. She won't let you off. Tomorrow, she'll definitely find someone to drive you out of here!"
"I don't care!"
Ye Chen curled up against the wall, hugging his shoulders as he snorted dismissively.
"Stop pretending to be tough. Come here. It's warm under the covers, or you'll catch a cold."
Seeing Ye Chen shivering all over yet still gritting his teeth and putting on a brave front, Robin hurried over and pulled him to the bed. "Hurry up. If you don't get in, I'm going to get mad."
"All right..." After hesitating for a moment, Ye Chen glanced at Robin. "You're the one who told me to get in."
"Yes, yes... I'm the one who told you to get in." Robin pouted and nodded, nearly unable to hold back her laughter.
"It really is warmer under the covers."
After crawling under the blanket, Ye Chen quickly took off his clothes. Otherwise, his soaking wet clothes would get the bedding wet. Robin soon crawled in as well, though she deliberately kept some distance from Ye Chen, as if afraid someone might suddenly turn wolfish.
"Where did you come from?" After the two sat in silence for a while, Robin curiously turned to Ye Chen and asked.
Ye Chen's face immediately fell. "Somewhere far away!"
What had happened to Ye Chen was too bizarre. He had no idea how to explain it. Even he himself was still utterly confused. He probably would not be able to calmly accept it anytime soon.
However, Ye Chen's eyes suddenly lit up. Thinking back to how he had just taught Robin's aunt a lesson, he had clearly only practiced a few sets of long-fist techniques in the woods. His body was only six years old, so why had his movements just now seemed so impressive?
Even if he had a martial arts manual within him, Ye Chen did not believe that his six-year-old self could possess such great strength.
Could it be that practicing martial arts in this world allowed him to unleash power far greater than in his previous life?
Unable to figure it out no matter how hard he thought, Ye Chen forced himself to calm down and meditate. Various techniques from the manual flashed through his mind again. He had not paid much attention before, but now, when he looked carefully, he froze.
There were actually many names he had never heard before: Muscle-Tendon Transformation Scripture, Dragon-Subduing Palm, Distant Acupoint Strike, Flying Through Heaven and Burrowing Through Earth, Rippling Wave Footwork... The more Ye Chen looked, the more dumbfounded he became. To be precise, this was no longer his original manual. Even he had no idea how it had become like this.
The martial arts manual had not only fused with his body, but had also gained many strange and unfamiliar names. As for things labeled fist aura, sword aura, and profound meaning, they left him even more bewildered.
Ye Chen gave a bitter smile. Faced with something like this, he simply could not understand it or make sense of it. The only thing he could do seemed to be to let nature take its course.
"Hm? What is that? It stinks." Turning his head, he saw that Robin had somehow brought over that piece of black bread.
Robin carefully broke the bread in half and handed one piece to Ye Chen. "Weren't you hungry? Eat. It doesn't taste good, but it's still better than going hungry. Besides, we can't waste food."
"You really eat that?" Ye Chen recoiled in fright. He truly did not want to eat something so awful.
"I've been eating it for years. If I don't, I can only go hungry." Like an adult, Robin forcibly stuffed the bread into Ye Chen's hand and quietly began eating her own portion.
"You..."
It was hard to believe that Robin remained so calm. She did not even frown. Though she ate slowly, she finished her half of the black bread without leaving a single crumb.
"Hm?" Ye Chen gritted his teeth and pouted stubbornly, studying the piece of black bread in his hand for a long time with a deeply aggrieved expression. If Robin could eat it, what did he, a boy, have to fear? He simply closed his eyes and took a bite of the black bread. The moment he swallowed it, Ye Chen's face darkened. He felt so sick that he wanted to spit it out, but seeing Robin watching him, he could only force himself to swallow it.
