As the dagger pierced Ye Chen's chest, his voice drifted faintly to Hancock's ears once more. But his body toppled straight backward. Ye Chen hadn't wanted Hancock to blame herself. Ye Chen hit the ground hard. Blood poured from his wounds, and not a trace of breath remained. The two of them had been tangled together at the end, so no one had seen exactly how the dagger entered his chest. When the spectators realized he was dead, thunderous cheers erupted from the stands.

"Is he... dead?" Ain shot to her feet. But Ye Chen lay motionless in the Arena. Hancock froze for a moment, then threw herself over him and sobbed. "You lied to me! You lied! You said you wouldn't die."

"Ah... I'd only just found a treasure I adored, and it's over already." Prince Rambo complained in disappointment. He looked toward Nalandesheng again, his eyes red with rage. He gritted his teeth, wishing he could charge over and settle the score with him.

"Carry him away. Clean up the Arena, now," Jesse ordered Koala and the others. Koala hurried forward. Whatever had happened, Ye Chen was dead, and she wanted to carry his body away herself. Sandersonia and Marigold ran into the Arena too. Together, they lifted Ye Chen and, under the guards' watch, headed for the mass grave behind the Beast Arena. The Dragon People's cheers still rang in their ears. Koala and the others were furious, but there was nothing they could do.
