Background / History

Hancock and her younger sisters, Sandersonia and Marigold, were enslaved by the Celestial Dragons. In the Beast Arena, Hancock and Ye Chen supported one another through their matches before being ordered to fight each other to the death. Hancock could not bring herself to kill him 67 83.

After their escape, Hancock chose to rule Amazon Lily to protect her sisters and its people. Unlike Hancock, both sisters bore the Celestial Dragons’ slave mark. With Granny Nyon’s help, they concealed the marks behind a story about a curse received from the Gorgon Witch. Hancock was crowned Empress, but returned from the ceremony to discover that Ye Chen had left her a letter and departed the island 83 86 89.

Hancock formed the Kuja Pirates soon afterward. Their first voyage was undertaken to find Ye Chen, even though visiting Sabaody brought back memories of her captivity. She later found him again, and their relationship continued alongside her responsibilities to Amazon Lily 101 238 531.

Hancock is tall and graceful, with long hair, blue eyes, and a proud bearing 89 521.

Personality

Hancock is aloof and commanding in public, but openly affectionate toward Ye Chen. Her early desire to keep him on Amazon Lily turns possessive; after he leaves, she recognizes how much she expected him to accommodate her and continues searching for him 87 89 101. She is protective of her sisters and subjects, and the casualties during the Marine attack on Amazon Lily make her question whether continued resistance is putting them at risk 727 728.

• Mero Mero Mellow: Fires a pink beam; she uses it to turn Ye Chen to stone, then reverses the effect 238.

• Limits: Her charm does not work on Weevil, leaving her to fight him at close range 727.

Hancock’s kicks are fast, precise, and aimed at vulnerable points. She defeats an arena opponent with them before becoming Empress 64.

• Perfume Femur: A powerful kick used against Diana, Fujitora, and Laiji; it nearly breaks Laiji’s leg 524 735 975.
• Crowd fighting: Rapid low kicks bring down more than a dozen Devil Fruit users while Ye Chen follows up against them 976.

• Shichibukai: Hancock holds a government-recognized position, but during the Sabaody fighting she only feigns a battle with Ye Chen 236 602 607.
• Defense of Amazon Lily: After the government strips her of her Shichibukai status, Marines bombard the island. Hancock stops cannonballs, fights the attackers, and faces pressure to surrender as the Kuja suffer casualties. Ye Chen and other allies arrive, and Amazon Lily survives the assault 724 725 727 728 729 739.
• Revolutionary alliance: Following the battle, Hancock agrees to Sabo’s proposal that Amazon Lily join the Revolutionary Army for protection 739.
• Kaido campaign: Hancock brings the Kuja Pirates to support Ye Chen, defeats Laiji, and helps clear a path through Kaido’s forces 974 975 976.
• Later life: Hancock lives on Amazon Lily with Ye Chen and gives birth to their son, Ye Luo 989.
