In the dim underground space, two Elfstones hung like miniature moons, casting a glow so faint it was barely perceptible.
Within that weak light, a Frog bloomed with azure radiance like a Fluorescent Stone. Through the glow, organs could vaguely be seen operating slowly beneath its skin as elements flowed through them.
Beside this miraculous Frog stood a barbed hook. One end was hung from a curved stone, while the other held a noticeably slimmer Frog.
Like the first Frog, its slowly working internal organs could be clearly seen beneath the weak light of the Elfstones.
Only, they were not visible through its skin, but through an incision stretching across half its belly.
It was Nicole.
Li Ziran reached out and checked the Frog's breathing, and the stone weighing on his heart finally fell away.
Luckily, her vital signs were basically stable. Aside from some of their outer skin having been corroded by stomach acid, the two Frogs' flesh and internal organs were completely unharmed.
That saved him the effort of nourishing the organs.
He took out surgical scissors, cut a piece of burlap from his trouser leg, dipped it in Flame Potion, and began wiping the stomach acid from both Frogs.
By normal surgical standards, the two Frogs should have been rinsed for half a quarter-hour with a solution diluted with Volcanic Potion, then wiped clean with dry cloth that had been treated to kill Elemental Bugs. Only then could their safety be fully guaranteed.
But there was no helping it now.
The environment here was far too crude. Even the cheapest Volcanic Potion had to be used sparingly.
Every surgical procedure could only be simplified. There might be some aftereffects, but once they got out of here, Li Ziran could basically find a way to deal with them.
