Background / History

Song Wanyan took in Lin Xiaotian more than a month before the story begins because he resembled the younger brother from whom she had long been separated. When Lin returns to Long River Town after surviving the mist-filled rift, she receives him warmly, prepares food and a bath, and supports his wish to pursue Martial Dao despite the cost. 3

Behind this domestic façade, Song's body contains at least two opposing wills: a cold, spiritual self concerned with Lin's safety and a seductive demonic self interested in the extraordinary potential within him. Their powers produce a mysterious map-like pattern and later a hidden formation inside Lin's home. 4 5

The demonic persona engineers pressure around Lin to stimulate his Blood Qi, including using the Qin Household to make him fear for Song's safety. It ultimately intends to drain Lin's essence and blood to recover from its injuries and consume Song's original self. 16 17
