Nature and Cultivation

Dou Qi is energy drawn from heaven and earth, absorbed into the body and circulated through a cultivator’s meridians. Early cultivation accumulates Dou Qi while tempering the body; only after reaching the Dou Zhe realm does a cultivator form a vortex and wield “true” Dou Qi. 2 10

The early First through Ninth Stages are a necessary foundation and generally require years of gradual cultivation. Young cultivators cannot train without limit because undeveloped bones and meridians may not withstand the strain. 2 5

Cultivation talent is determined principally by how quickly a person can sense, absorb, and convert the energy of heaven and earth. Soul strength also affects cultivation, comprehension, and the likelihood of encountering bottlenecks. 5 10 66

Higher-grade methods allow cultivators of the same realm to recover Dou Qi faster and exert greater combat strength. A powerful Dou Technique cannot compensate for insufficient Dou Qi or an inferior cultivation foundation. 12 45

Technique Conversion

Changing cultivation methods requires redirecting Dou Qi through new meridian pathways and can cause severe pain or damage if performed carelessly. 47

A higher-grade fire-attributed method can make Dou Qi denser, hotter, and faster to recover; one documented conversion changed golden Dou Qi into dark-crimson, magma-like energy. 47 48

Applications

Body Tempering

During the initial Dou Qi stages, accumulated energy tempers the cultivator’s body and establishes the foundation needed for later breakthroughs. 2 10

Combat Enhancement
