Before the Bride's father could speak, Yin Ge addressed him first. "Now that everyone has revealed their Godhead, what about you?"
So the Bride's father answered with almost no hesitation, "I have the [Scholar] Godhead. My Law is Remonstrance, divided into Dead Admonition and Living Admonition."
"If the target of my Remonstrance has no Godhead and is the Killer, then it is Living Admonition."
"If the target of my Remonstrance has a Godhead, then I will die. That is Dead Admonition."
He explained with exceptional detail, afraid of leaving out even the slightest piece of information.
Yin Ge exchanged a glance with the best man. There had been no mistakes in the Godhead information.
At this point, all the Godheads had come to light.
Son of Heaven, the child.
Feudal Lord, the best man.
Court Minister, Yin Ge.
Grand Physician, the groom's younger sister.
Scholar, the Bride's father.
Commoner, the Bride's mother.
But the dead groom was not the Killer, and no one could determine what his Godhead had been.
It seemed the Killer had most likely played the Son of Heaven Game before, or knew related information about it... Yin Ge frowned deeply.
The current situation was unusual. If they accused someone with a Godhead tonight and the Killer murdered another person at night, then only three people with Godheads would remain by tomorrow daytime.
At that point, they would have only one chance left to accuse someone. If they failed, the Killer would win outright.
They could not lose anyone with a Godhead again...
The thought had barely formed in Yin Ge's mind when the best man spoke. "Accuse the groom's younger sister."
The groom's younger sister froze, then broke down crying. "But why me? I've been following all of your ideas this whole time. Why are you trying to hurt me now?!"
"To verify your Godhead." Yin Ge took a deep breath.
"Besides, those of us with Godheads cannot die again. If we accuse the wrong person tonight, the Killer will have a huge advantage tomorrow."
"So, in this round, it would be best if no one died."
"Accusing you is the best choice." Yin Ge sighed helplessly. "Calm down. If you truly are the Grand Physician, then even if we accuse you, you will not die."
"As long as you do not die later, you will be conclusively proven to be the Grand Physician. No one will accuse you again, and no one will die tonight either. It kills two birds with one stone."
The best man nodded vigorously. "That's right, it's the best choice!"
The others understood what the two of them meant and tacitly accepted the method.
But the groom's younger sister's fear and resentment turned into tears that poured down her face. "But... but won't I lose one use of [Death Immunity] this way?"
"My Law can only be used once. Are you making me waste it for nothing?"
So she had thought of that after all... Yin Ge took a deep breath.
When she had chosen to save the best man earlier, she had struggled with the very same thought, so she could fully understand how the groom's younger sister felt now.
A chance at Death Immunity was of course exceedingly precious. Anyone would be reluctant to give it up.
But if the Killer won, they would die whether they had Law or not.
So under such circumstances, using the Law first to reduce needless casualties and fight for a chance at survival was more important.
Yin Ge said whatever came to mind, softly voicing these thoughts in an attempt to persuade the groom's younger sister.
The groom's younger sister seemed able to understand, but she still found it hard to accept. Tears streamed silently down her face. "I don't want to die. I don't want to die..."
The Bride's mother crossed her arms, her eyes filled with suspicion. "You're dragging this out. Don't tell me you don't have a Godhead at all and can't use your Law?"
"You lied to us about having the [Grand Physician] Godhead, thinking that made you safe. You didn't expect us all to want to accuse you now, did you?"
"That's not it!" The groom's younger sister panicked and immediately retorted, "N-no, it's not like that. I just can't bear to give up my chance at [Death Immunity]."
"Hah." The Bride's mother gave a mocking laugh. "And who can know that for sure?"
Because of those words, the Bride's father's gaze toward the groom's younger sister also gained a hint of hostility.
At that moment, Yin Ge looked at the clock on the wall.
It was already 7:55 p.m. There were only five minutes left before the Bride arrived.
She instinctively looked around, feeling as though a chill lingered beside her, as if the Bride might dart out at any moment.
Meanwhile, the groom's younger sister cried louder and louder, but tears were destined to be useless in this game.
Without realizing it, everyone had taken the same side, leaving the groom's younger sister somewhat isolated and helpless.
The best man gritted his teeth. "Is this really the only way?"
"Are you dreaming?" The Bride's mother laughed in anger. "Why weren't you soft-hearted when we accused the groom earlier? Don't treat people differently. We women don't need your pity..."
"Besides, weren't you the one who suggested accusing her just now? It's too late to put on an act now!"
The moment she finished speaking, the groom's younger sister grabbed her. "W-we should accuse her! She's been attacking everyone else!"
The groom's younger sister pointed at the Bride's mother, speaking rapidly and urgently. She had clearly lost her reason.
Just as the best man was about to say something, the Bride's father yanked the groom's younger sister away and threw her onto the sofa, then warned her sternly.
"Don't be so selfish. You have [Death Immunity], which is basically a death exemption. You only need to get through this. By tomorrow, we'll know whether you have a Godhead, and we can make further judgments."
"What about tonight?" The groom's younger sister sounded deeply aggrieved. "What if the Killer murders me tonight? What then?"
At those words, the Bride's father opened his mouth, yet could not say anything.
No one could guarantee another person's life.
The silence was deafening.
"Tonight, I'll use the [Partition] Law on you!"
The best man's voice broke the silence.
Hearing him, the groom's younger sister seemed to have all her strength drained away. She slowly sank to her knees and began sobbing quietly.
"Thank you... thank you..."
Here, promises were as fragile as cicada wings, yet there would always be someone clutching tightly to that hope and moving forward.
Was he truly using Partition on the groom's younger sister, or was he trying to confuse the Killer...? As Yin Ge pondered, she shifted her gaze away from the best man and back to the clock.
19:58!
Two minutes left!
The choice of whom to accuse as the Killer had already been settled. Now there was something even more important to do.
Yin Ge pulled the child, who had been quietly crying with his face buried between his knees, aside and patted his shoulder.
The gesture looked like she was comforting him.
The others took one glance before looking away.
Only after making sure no one was paying attention to her did Yin Ge stare into the child's eyes and ask in a lowered voice, "Have you decided whom to use Discernment on?"
The child looked bewildered, tears still hanging from his face. His eyes drifted back and forth among the people who had not yet been subjected to Discernment, unable to settle on a target.
Yin Ge did not have time to wait for his answer. She gripped his shoulder tightly and whispered in his ear, "Use Discernment on the best man. Remember?"
The child looked at the best man, then nodded as he wiped away his tears. "Okay, big sister. I remember."
After hearing that, Yin Ge stood and silently watched the clock.
The others seemed to be influenced by her as well, turning to look at the clock.
"Tick, tick, tick~"
The hour hand pointed at the number "8." The sound of dripping water appeared from nowhere, gradually merging with the ticking of the clock.
The Bride had arrived!
