Background / History

Dugu Mei served as Wu Ya’s favored young wife and held unusual access to his private residence despite being only a Dou Wang. Unknown to Wu Ya, she had been planted within Wu Tian Manor as a spy for the Ten Thousand Scorpions Sect, meeting one of its elders in secret. Lu Xia discovered this connection while gathering poisonous materials and used it to blackmail her. 2

Initially considering whether to kill Lu Xia for exposing her, Dugu Mei instead recognized the danger of his composure and changed tactics, attempting to negotiate through seduction. Her allegiance shifted decisively after Lu Xia revealed his Dou Emperor aura: she judged the eighteen-year-old prodigy to be a far more promising patron than either Wu Ya or the Ten Thousand Scorpions Sect. 2 3

Three days later, she infiltrated Wu Ya’s cave dwelling under the guise of caring for him during the refinement of the Sky Centipede Poison.
