Background

Wu Ya was the lord of Wu Tian Manor in Heavenly Centipede Ravine, Chu Yun Empire. A knowledgeable Dou Emperor poison cultivator, he encountered twelve-year-old Lu Xia amid the poisonous mist left by the destruction of the Lu Family while searching for poisonous materials. He recognized Lu Xia's rare Woeful Poison Body and saw it as an opportunity to use a secret art that could extract the origin of a special constitution for himself 1.

When Lu Xia suffered another outbreak days later, Wu Ya used a sealing secret method to temporarily suppress the toxic qi. Lu Xia consequently accepted him as master and entered Wu Tian Manor, though he remained suspicious of Wu Ya's motives 1.

For six years, Wu Ya repeatedly monitored Lu Xia's cultivation while concealing his ultimate intention: to harvest the origin of Lu Xia's Woeful Poison Body once it had matured sufficiently. Lu Xia recognized the scheme and hid his true cultivation behind the appearance of a Dou Ling 1 2.

Personality

Wu Ya was ambitious, calculating, and ruthlessly opportunistic. His apparent rescue and mentorship of Lu Xia were investments in a rare constitution he intended to claim for himself 1 6.

He was also deeply suspicious and cruel toward those around him, including Dugu Mei despite favoring her enough to grant access to his cave dwelling. His belief that she was too weak to threaten him left him vulnerable to her betrayal 3 5.

His arrogance was most apparent during the refinement of Sky Centipede Poison. Convinced that its completion would elevate his poison arts and enable a breakthrough to Dou Zong, he failed to recognize the danger posed by Spirit Dissolution Powder until his Dou Qi was already crippled 5 6.

Story Role

Discovery and False Mentorship

Wu Ya discovers Lu Xia after the latter's Woeful Poison Body destroys the Lu Family. Recognizing both the constitution and its value, he suppresses Lu Xia's next outbreak and brings him to Wu Tian Manor as his disciple 1.

Plot Against Lu Xia

Wu Ya continues cultivating Lu Xia while planning to steal the origin of his constitution. His excessive attention to Lu Xia's progress causes Lu Xia to suspect him and conceal his real strength 1 2.

Sky Centipede Poison Refinement

He begins the critical stage of refining Sky Centipede Poison, expecting the completed poison to raise his poison arts and help him reach Dou Zong. Dugu Mei exploits her access to his cave dwelling to apply Spirit Dissolution Powder to his Tranquilizing Incense 3 5.

Downfall and Death

The poison disrupts Wu Ya's Dou Qi, ruins the Sky Centipede Poison refinement, and reduces his strength to a fraction of its normal level. After Dugu Mei opens the cave restrictions and Lu Xia enters, Wu Ya learns that both have conspired against him. He is killed by a single palm strike after Lu Xia reveals his true cultivation as a peak Dou Emperor 6 7.

Posthumous Cover-Up

Lu Xia and Dugu Mei seal Wu Ya's cave dwelling and claim that he has entered seclusion to break through to Dou Zong. His Manor Lord token is used to secure the elders' obedience and preserve control of Wu Tian Manor 7 8 9.
