They had never been to the Northern Great Wilderness, so it was somewhat possible that they had seen salt and white flour.
But for them to use exactly the same names...
Well, it was not entirely impossible.
The names used in later generations had originally been passed down through the ages. Although this world was most likely not his previous world, who could guarantee that these two items had different names here?
Besides, the term "brother" definitely did not yet exist among the Human Race.
Relationships such as husband and wife or parents and children had not even emerged in this era, so such a form of address could not possibly exist.
However, the great powers of the Primordial World did have such relationships.
For instance, Nüwa and Fuxi were siblings, and there was the bond between the Three Pure Ones.
So it was not impossible for powerful members of the Demon Race to use similar forms of address and for Iron Pillar to overhear them.
But taking all of that together, Feng Xu would rather believe that the other party was a transmigrator, or knew one.
After dinner, the group took turns keeping watch through the night.
The next day, the five of them set out together.
Halfway there, they were intercepted by three men.
"Well, if it isn't Iron Pillar. What brings you here today?"
One of the middle-aged men stepped forward, his tone openly provocative.
"Captain Shi, we're heading back to our tribe and merely passing through. Move aside."
Iron Pillar showed no reaction and merely told him to make way.
"What unfortunate timing. Commander Mang is tracking a Baleful Demon nearby. Outsiders are not allowed to interfere."
"We can just fly over. How would that affect anything? Why won't you let us pass?"
A-Da narrowed his eyes. This man was clearly picking a fight.
"These are the commander's orders. Could it be that you people are connected to that Baleful Demon?"
"Shi Lin, don't throw mud in my face. Are you moving aside or not?"
Shi Lin sneered, showing no intention of yielding.
"Fine. We'll take a detour."
Dashan led the others away along another route, while Captain Shi's arrogant laughter came from behind them.
"This entire area within a hundred li is where the Baleful Demon operates. You'd best take a wider detour."
Dashan did not respond and led them even farther around.
"Pah! What does he think he is? Just because he's won the lord's favor, he thinks he can do whatever he wants in the Great Wilderness. If Commander Mang loses his temper, even the lord has to show him respect."
Shi Lin cursed toward the distance, and the people beside him chimed in.
"Iron Pillar, do you have a grudge against him?"
Having their way blocked the moment they arrived had put Feng Xu in a foul mood as well.
"No. It's just that rumors have been spreading throughout the tribe lately. Quite a few people say that the chief intends to favor outsiders and drive out his own people. That's why some people have a worse attitude toward Iron Pillar."
Dashan answered for Iron Pillar.
"Sorry for the trouble. Those people only know how to pull such underhanded stunts."
Iron Pillar cupped his fists and apologized to them.
"It's nothing. We'll only get back a few days later, that's all."
Dashan replied.
Six days later, the five of them safely arrived at the Central Wilderness Tribe.
Upon hearing the news, Qu Shan personally came out to greet them.
He led them from the edge of the tribe to its core and introduced the Central Wilderness Tribe to Feng Xu along the way.
The houses in the Great Wilderness were not as comfortable as those in the Eastern Wilderness, but they were quite large. Many of the houses were built from beast bones, tall and spacious.
More than ten thousand people lived scattered around the outskirts, while over twenty thousand lived in the central core area.
Its overall strength far surpassed that of the Eastern Wilderness.
The people here had stronger bloodlines. Children could enter the Innate Realm at five or six years old, and adults could become Earth Immortals.
Feng Xu's Late Earth Immortal cultivation could only be considered that of an ordinary warrior here.
The lord was a Late True Immortal. Of the fifteen high commanders, one was a Late True Immortal, while the rest were Mid True Immortals. The deputy commanders were Early True Immortals.
Below them were the captains, who were Late Heavenly Immortals.
Warriors at the Heavenly Immortal realm were all considered elites.
Seeing that Iron Pillar had a favorable impression of Feng Xu, Qu Shan arranged for Feng Xu to stay in the beast-bone house where Iron Pillar lived.
Iron Pillar had remodeled the house, making it much more comfortable than the others. It was not much worse than Vermilion Ridge.
They each had a bed, and there was nothing else in the room, making it seem rather empty.
"I need to get a table. I'll need it for writing things later."
Feng Xu muttered to himself.
"Sure. I'll make you a table tomorrow."
Iron Pillar said casually.
"Won't you just refine a table directly? It won't take much mana."
"Isn't that an artifact refiner's job? I don't know anything about that."
What Feng Xu meant was simply refining something with mana, which did not count as artifact refinement.
In this world, once an item had been refined with mana, its shape could be altered freely.
For example, wood could be refined and formed into a table.
Of course, it still had to follow the inherent properties of the material.
"Are there artifact refiners here?"
"Not now. There seemed to be one before, but he got carried off by a ferocious beast while searching for materials."
Iron Pillar sighed.
"What a pity I wasn't here back then. Otherwise, I could've had him make me a Dharma Artifact. Then I wouldn't be left without a weapon whenever I turn into a giant."
"What kind of Dharma Artifact do you want?"
Feng Xu asked.
"A big broadsword. It'd be best if it could grow and shrink, and change its weight too. That would make it easier to use."
Iron Pillar grinned.
Now that they had become somewhat familiar with each other, Iron Pillar took Feng Xu around the tribe.
Central Wilderness Tribe, thatched hut at the foot of the mountain.
Yunfeng reinforced the roof and returned to the ground.
He looked at the repaired roof and nodded in satisfaction.
In the distance, Qu Shan hurried over.
"My lord, that man has arrived. I heard Commander Mang gave him trouble on the way. Would you like to meet him?"
Yunfeng frowned.
That Commander Mang was always jumping out to cause trouble.
"Is this man truly as remarkable as you claim?"
"I asked around at several nearby tribes. There may be some exaggeration, but the general facts should be correct."
What Qu Shan had reported earlier sounded quite exaggerated.
At first, several thousand people had been scattered along the edge of the Eastern Great Wilderness, forming hundreds of tribes.
Ten years ago, fewer than a hundred remained.
It was also ten years ago that the Wind-Fire Tribe suddenly rose to prominence and drove the development of the surrounding area.
Now, there were already tens of thousands of people.
Such changes in only ten years were all because of Feng Xu.
"Not only does he value population, he has also made many novel and useful things. He is skilled at artifact refinement and can even refine Dharma Treasures. He cleared land for farming, producing so much food each year that it can barely be finished, and he even created writing."
Yunfeng sat down on a stone, and Qu Shan sat beside him.
"Is writing really as wondrous as you say?"
"I'm afraid it is even more remarkable than my assessment. I have only grasped the basics myself and am not proficient in its practical applications. I only know that survival experience can be compiled into books for later generations to learn from. It can record events and convey messages. In short, it has endless marvelous uses..."
Qu Shan spoke animatedly, clapping in praise whenever he reached an especially wonderful point.
"But if that is all, it may not resolve the Human Race's current ailments. Sigh, in the end, our strength is still too weak."
"But he also has a Bloodline Secret Art that can increase our strength. If we build a Blood Pool, the strength of our Great Wilderness can rise to another level!"
"Mm. If this succeeds, it will be of extraordinary significance to the Central Wilderness Tribe. For now, go prepare the things he wants. I'll find time to speak with him."
What kind of person he was could only be known after meeting him.
"My lord, please make sure to put this man to good use!"
Qu Shan felt that the lord did not take Feng Xu seriously enough, so he once again stressed Feng Xu's importance.
"Having him build the Blood Pool and manage it still isn't putting him to good use? Those things of his cannot be put into practice in the Great Wilderness."
The Central Wilderness Tribe was different from the Wind-Fire Tribe. Feng Xu had no prestige here. No one would listen to the commands of an ordinary Late Earth Immortal warrior.
"My lord, you must not neglect him. This man concerns the future of the Human Race. Please meet him first and seek his counsel!"
