Background

Iron Pillar is a genius from the Northern Great Wilderness who was sent by Qu Shan to receive Feng Xu at the border of the Central Wilderness. He immediately became fascinated by Feng Xu's meat soup, salted food, and white-flour flatbreads—commodities unavailable in his homeland—and impulsively declared Feng Xu his “brother” after learning of the Eastern Wilderness's enormous food stores 48.

Feng Xu grew suspicious of Iron Pillar's unusually familiar vocabulary and later confirmed that Iron Pillar possessed a System Advisor. The system had selected Feng Xu to receive the Merit Mall after earlier candidates died; in return, Iron Pillar's cultivation remains one minor realm higher than Feng Xu's and he can inherit Feng Xu's cultivation methods without their usual incompatibility 52 60.

Personality

Iron Pillar is straightforward, enthusiastic, and highly motivated by food, farming, and practical work. His excitement over grain production and food storage is genuine enough that the prospect of visiting the Eastern Wilderness primarily appeals to him as a chance to eat its cuisine 48 59.

He is compassionate toward neglected children and helps Feng Xu gather, house, supervise, and entertain them after the Nursery is established 52 53. In combat, he combines confidence with unexpected kindness: after defeating the Cow Demon, he helps him up and checks on his injuries, winning the former opponent's loyalty 66.

Iron Pillar is also bold to the point of dragging Feng Xu into dangerous assignments, including border reconnaissance and infiltration of Wolf Mountain 64 65.
