Hane welcomed Subaru back and assigned the nine Tailed Beasts to train him after his field training went poorly. When Emilia left for the Royal Capital to begin the Royal Selection Trial, Hane stayed behind and told Subaru that death would awaken the power of his eyes, leaving Subaru to depart stunned.
