Mahogany Town.
This little town was as quiet as ever, surrounded by mountains and forests. The residents lived at a fairly slow pace, and pedestrians were rarely seen on the town's streets. It was desolate to the extreme.
Most of the houses lining the road were low as well, no more than three stories high. Their architectural style was no different from Ecruteak City's, filled with Johto's ancient charm.
When Heiduo arrived here, he wandered through streets too narrow for cars and actually spent a full two or three minutes walking around before seeing his first passerby.
An old man in a padded jacket, whose body looked exceptionally sturdy.
"Isn't this place basically a Ghost Town?" Umbreon hid in Heiduo's arms, only poking out its head as it curiously looked around.
Umbreon had not wanted to come in the first place, but Heiduo was about to face a world-class final boss. How could he leave Umbreon, such a reliable defensive measure, at home?
Heiduo patted its head. "Do you think this is Lavender Town? It's perfectly normal not to go out in the dead of winter. Otherwise, they're all out in the fields."
There were farmers in the Pokémon world too. How could Berries alone possibly feed all the people of Johto? They would have starved to death long ago!
In a "rural" place like Mahogany Town, farming was a very ordinary thing. Or rather, most of the townspeople farmed.
When Heiduo had flown over from Route 44 on Garchomp, vast stretches of winter-planted farmland had filled his view. The dark soil looked remarkably fertile.
Many old farmers wrapped in padded jackets were doing something in the fields, each accompanied by one or two Grass type Pokémon and Tauros.
The latter were used to till the land, much like water
