The bespectacled young man was somewhat surprised by how Haunter used Hypnosis. Releasing it through both hands while moving it around was simply terrifying.
Chesnaught dared not look directly at the eerie light waves emerging from Haunter's two Ghost Claws. With its eyes shut, it moved left and right according to the bespectacled young man's instructions. This was where a Trainer's importance showed.
Without a Trainer, Chesnaught would have been hypnotized for certain.
Hypnosis lasted only a short time. The endlessly expanding rings vanished after merely two seconds.
But Heiduo had achieved his goal.
Young people really were young people. The guy had not noticed anything wrong with Chesnaught's position at all.
Heiduo looked at Chesnaught, positioned at the center of a triangle formed by the two Ghost Claws and Haunter's body, and helplessly shook his head.

The next second, the Ghost Claws and Haunter's body erupted with light!
The bespectacled young man belatedly realized something was wrong and sharply told Chesnaught not to open its eyes. Unfortunately, he was still a moment too slow. Chesnaught instinctively opened its eyes, and Confuse Ray promptly illuminated its vision!

The bespectacled young man hurriedly tried to recall Chesnaught, but Heiduo had gone through so much trouble to lure it into that position. How could he possibly give the guy a chance to switch Pokémon?
