Background
In his youth, Qian Daoliu travelled the continent and fell in love with Su Yue, an ice-element Soul Master from the Ice Clan. They cultivated and hunted Soul Rings together, including several journeys into the Far North, but Su Yue's family opposed their relationship. Qian Daoliu eventually returned to Spirit Hall, succeeded as Pope, married under pressure from his father, and became Qian Xunji's father. He never heard from Su Yue again after their separation. 77
Decades later, Qian Daoliu encountered Su Jie in the Far North and learned that she was his daughter with Su Yue. Su Jie confirmed that Su Yue had died years earlier while still longing for him. 79 Qian Daoliu later learned that Su Jie had inherited neither the Ice Clan's fatal Heavenly Remnant Bloodline nor its shortened lifespan. 80
By the time Ling Jing awakened the Mirror Beast Emperor Martial Soul, Qian Daoliu had become the First Offering of Spirit Hall's Worship Hall and one of the continent's three Peerless Douluo. He personally investigated Ling Jing's copying ability after recognizing its potential to surpass even Bibi Dong's talent. 4 5
Appearance
Qian Daoliu appears to be a refined middle-aged man despite his age and seniority. When meeting Ling Jing, he deliberately presents himself as a gentle, approachable elder rather than an intimidating authority figure. 5
- Appears to be in his thirties or early middle age. 5
- Possesses the sacred Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul.
- Manifests an Angel God Mark between his brows when fighting seriously. 84
- His martial possession produces three pairs of white wings and nine Soul Rings—eight black and one red. 48 84
Personality
Qian Daoliu is cautious, analytical, and difficult to impress through spectacle alone. When Qian Xunji excitedly reported Ling Jing's ability to copy Bibi Dong's Martial Souls, Qian Daoliu immediately questioned its duration, restrictions, number of possible targets, and whether it could copy multiple people. He criticized Qian Xunji for accepting Ling Jing before investigating those limits. 4
He is deeply protective of Ling Jing and Bibi Dong, treating Ling Jing with grandfatherly warmth while personally planning his Soul Rings, supervising his training, and arranging elite protection for his expeditions. 5 20 23 This protectiveness also guides his military decisions: he ordered Qian Jun and Jiang Mo to remove the pair from the Star Dou Great Forest before confronting Di Tian. 55
Despite his authority, Qian Daoliu retains a sentimental side. His lingering grief over Su Yue makes him reluctant to investigate her former clan, fearing confirmation that she had died. 77 He also shows unusual flexibility toward Soul Beasts, choosing to study the Ice Empress's peaceful approach to Ling Jing rather than immediately seize her as a Soul Ring source. 110
Abilities & Skills
Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul
Qian Daoliu possesses Spirit Hall's inherited God-Level Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul.
- Wields the Angel Sacred Sword and Angel Domain in combat. 55
- Can access a limited measure of Angel God's power, producing a divine aura that frightened most of the Star Dou Great Forest's powerful Soul Beasts. 55
- His sacred aura completely immobilized the evil-aligned Dark Demon Evil God Tiger before it could activate its Space Colosseum ability. 48
- Can fly freely with six angelic wings, giving him decisive aerial mobility. 53
Peerless Douluo Combat Ability
As a Rank 99 Peerless Douluo, Qian Daoliu is among Spirit Hall's strongest combatants.
- Was confident in suppressing the Ice Empress, whose strength he assessed around that of a Rank 96–97 Titled Douluo. 83
- Defeated and drove back the Snow Empress in the Far North, though he acknowledged that her command over the region's ice and snow could delay him. 85
- Fought Beast God Di Tian to a deadlock while directing Spirit Hall's larger operation in the Star Dou Great Forest. 55 56
- Regards a second Soul Core as necessary to decisively overcome Di Tian. 56
Soul Core Method
Qian Daoliu was the first person to practically validate Ling Jing's Soul Core Method.
- Condensed a first Soul Core after using the Origin-Returning Gilded Stamen and testing Ling Jing's theory at the Icefire Yin Yang Well. 35 44
- Later formed a second Soul Core through In-Phase Resonance. 69
- Explains that Soul Cores accelerate Soul Power recovery, absorb external energy, improve cultivation speed, and enhance combat ability. 69
- Warns that failed condensation or loss of control can cause the core to explode and kill the cultivator. 69
- Begins guiding Spirit Hall's trusted Titled Douluo in the method after proving its viability. 110
Cultivation Planning
Qian Daoliu excels at identifying long-term cultivation paths rather than selecting Soul Rings for immediate power alone.
- Recommended clone-producing Soul Rings to help Ling Jing use multiple copied Martial Souls simultaneously. 5
- Identified the Heart Separation Control Method as the solution to Ling Jing's inability to independently control multiple clones. 13
- Directed Ling Jing toward control and spiritual Soul Skills after his first two clone-focused Soul Rings. 37
- Later recommended a Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Jade Scorpion as Ling Jing's fourth Soul Ring, seeking direct offense to balance Ling Jing's clone and spiritual abilities. 77
- Personally planned to teach Ling Jing the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul and Angel Sacred Sword. 20
Relationships
- Qian Xunji — His son and the reigning Pope of Spirit Hall. Qian Daoliu regularly criticizes Qian Xunji's impulsiveness but entrusts him with major political and family responsibilities. 4 34
- Qian Renxue — His granddaughter. He pressured Qian Xunji to produce a female Seraphim inheritor, then reserved the Divine Light Glazed Crystal Lotus for Renxue's future Angel God inheritance. 19 34
- Ling Jing — A highly valued junior whom Qian Daoliu personally evaluates, mentors, protects, and prepares as a future pillar of Spirit Hall. 5 20 69
- Bibi Dong — His son's disciple and Ling Jing's senior sister. He supports her cultivation, warns her against reckless Soul Ring absorption, and personally plans to guide her first Soul Core condensation. 45 69
- Su Yue — His former lover from the Ice Clan. Their forced separation remained one of Qian Daoliu's greatest regrets. 77 79
- Su Jie — His daughter with Su Yue, discovered during Ling Jing's fourth Soul Ring expedition in the Far North. 79
- Golden Crocodile Douluo — His trusted fellow Offering and frequent partner in evaluating Ling Jing's growth, Soul Rings, and the Soul Core Method. 21 35
- Azure Luan Douluo — A fellow Offering with expertise on Mirror Beasts who assisted Qian Daoliu's initial examination of Ling Jing. 5
- Di Tian — Beast God of the Star Dou Great Forest and Qian Daoliu's principal Soul Beast rival. Their battle revealed that Spirit Hall could not safely dominate the forest's core region. 55 56
- Ice Empress — A powerful Far North Soul Beast whom Qian Daoliu chose to observe as a potential bridge for human–Soul Beast cooperation after she sought Ling Jing out peacefully. 110
Story Role / Major Arcs
Investigation of Ling Jing
After Qian Xunji reported Ling Jing's Mirror Beast Emperor Martial Soul, Qian Daoliu personally visited him with Azure Luan Douluo. He verified that Ling Jing could perfectly reproduce Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Souls and maintain a copied Martial Soul for an hour. He then began designing a cultivation path that would exploit Ling Jing's ability to command multiple Martial Souls. 4 5
Mentor of Spirit Hall's Next Generation
Qian Daoliu personally supervised Ling Jing's early Soul Ring hunts, arranged instruction in the Heart Separation Control Method, and trained Ling Jing in Seraphim techniques and swordsmanship after Ling Jing copied Qian Renxue's Martial Soul. 12 13 20 22 He also envisioned a succession plan in which Bibi Dong would become Pope, Ling Jing would become Holy Son and eventually Pope, and Qian Renxue would continue Spirit Hall's Seraphim legacy. 21
Soul Core Method and Icefire Yin Yang Well
Recognizing the strategic importance of the Icefire Yin Yang Well, Qian Daoliu ordered Spirit Hall to secure it before rival factions could discover its Immortal Herbs. 34 He became the first successful practitioner of the Soul Core Method, promised Ling Jing credit as its creator, and later presented the method as a breakthrough capable of transforming the entire Soul Master world. 35 69
Star Dou Great Forest Conflict
Qian Daoliu led Spirit Hall's offerings into the Star Dou Great Forest to investigate its hidden powerful Soul Beasts. He faced Di Tian while the other offerings engaged Myriad Demon King, Jun Xiong, Zi Ji, and Scarlet King. Bi Ji's healing overturned Spirit Hall's initial advantage, forcing Qian Daoliu to order a withdrawal and classify the forest's six great Beasts as a top-secret threat. 55 56
Far North Expedition
To avoid the increasingly dangerous Star Dou Great Forest, Qian Daoliu escorted Ling Jing into the Far North for his fourth Soul Ring. There, he encountered the Ice Clan, discovered Su Jie was his daughter, and protected the expedition against the Ice Jade Scorpion Clan, Ice Empress, and Snow Empress. 77 79 81 85
Ice Empress Incident
When the Ice Empress later entered the human world to remain near Ling Jing, Qian Daoliu rejected Qian Xunji's instinct to capture her. He instead treated her arrival as evidence that Ling Jing's copied Martial Souls create emotional resonance with their original owners, and as an opportunity to study cooperation between humans and Soul Beasts. 110
