Background / History

Lei Dong was a human transmigrator who bound himself to the Devour the Heavens system and reincarnated as a Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff. His former name rapidly lost meaning to him as his soul-beast instincts and hunger became increasingly dominant. He began as the only Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff in the Star Dou Great Forest, with 10,000 years of cultivation and an altered beginner mission to kill a Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear rather than hunt Soft Bone Rabbits 1.

His first kill immediately drew the hostility of Xiong Jun’s Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear clan. Rather than face Xiong Jun directly, the Mastiff moved through the forest’s outer regions, devouring Soul Beasts and Soul Rings to grow. By the time he encountered the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, he had become large enough to roam the outer forest freely, though he still avoided the core region and its rulers, Di Tian and Gu Yuena 3 4.

His conflict with the forest’s ferocious beasts escalated after he challenged Scarlet King, injured Zi Ji, defeated Xiong Jun, and openly rejected Gu Yuena’s authority. His ability to consume bloodlines, withstand enemies far above his cultivation, and resist bloodline suppression made him a threat to the established soul-beast hierarchy 5 7 13 15.

Appearance

Initially, the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff stood roughly four meters tall and measured more than seven meters from head to tail. Repeated bloodline fusions and cultivation breakthroughs transformed him into an enormous golden beast over eighty meters long 1 18 30.

  • Thick golden fur covers his body.
  • A flame-like mane runs along his spine and bristles like steel needles in battle.
  • He has a lion’s outline but a broad mastiff-like muzzle.
  • His face bears a twisted, pitch-black ghost-face pattern stretching from his cheeks to his forehead.
  • His maw contains rows of cold, prominent fangs.
  • Dragon-blood and Crocodile Dragon fusion produced black markings and dense scales beneath his fur 10.
  • After consuming Da Ming’s flesh, his golden mane gained an azure glaze and Azure Dragon aura 30.

Personality

The Mastiff combines Lei Dong’s human memories and genre knowledge with the instincts of an apex predator. He analyzes opponents, recognizes dangerous figures from the original story, tracks prey by scent, and uses feints, terrain, and battlefield positioning rather than relying only on brute force 4 12 21 23.

He is also violently proud, irreverent toward authority, and eager to provoke stronger enemies. He treats opponents’ flesh, blood, Soul Rings, and even martial souls as potential meals, often eating portions of defeated enemies to intimidate them. His instincts frequently override restraint; the stronger an opponent is, the more excited he becomes to challenge or consume them 5 13 14 30.

Despite this recklessness, he is not incapable of retreat. He fled when Di Tian approached after injuring Zi Ji, recognizing that survival mattered more than finishing his prey 8.

Abilities & Skills

Devour the Heavens System and Bloodline Fusion

The system directs his missions and converts prey into cultivation, skills, and biological traits.

  • Absorbs Soul Rings directly through devouring rather than conventional soul-master methods.
  • Gains cultivation from consumed Soul Beasts, flesh, blood, essence, and even martial souls 3 11 20.
  • Fuses acquired bloodlines and genes into his body, including Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear, Hell Demon Dragon, Crocodile Dragon, Behemoth, Azure Dragon, and divine factors 10 13 30.
  • His accelerated growth produces extreme hunger; stronger Soul Beasts provide more nourishment than ordinary prey 4.

Domination Domain

The Mastiff’s innate racial domain is his primary defense against superior bloodlines and authority.

  • Negates bloodline suppression, including dragon pressure 1 14.
  • When fully activated, increases his defense, speed, and bite force by fifty percent 17.
  • Allows him to fight opponents whose cultivation and lineage would ordinarily overwhelm a younger Soul Beast.

Dark Gold Dreadclaw and Heaven-Rending Claw

After killing a Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear, he gained claws with the bear clan’s destructive properties. His later fusion with Xiong Jun’s Behemoth bloodline upgraded this power into Heaven-Rending Claw.

  • The Dark Gold Dreadclaw can tear through powerful scales, shields, and flesh 5 9.
  • Heaven-Rending Claw is capable of threatening dragon-level defenses and tearing open spatial fissures 13 23.
  • He combines claw attacks with rapid movement, ambushes, and redirection techniques rather than committing to prolonged exchanges 12 23.

Berserk and Mad Demon Body

The Mastiff acquired the Blood-red Baboon’s Berserk Bloodline after consuming the Baboon King.

  • Mad Demon Body can be activated three times per day 3.
  • Berserk expands his body, intensifies blood energy, and raises his physical attributes by more than eighty percent 5.
  • Second Berserk further increases his size and strength, enabling him to confront Scarlet King and Zi Ji simultaneously 6.
  • The enhancement consumes significant stamina and leaves him vulnerable after it ends if he cannot finish the battle quickly 6.

Dragon Blood, Flame, and Armor

Zi Ji’s blood and the Crocodile Dragon’s genes gave the Mastiff both offensive and defensive dragon-derived abilities.

  • Dragon Flame allows short- to medium-range fire breath 8.
  • Crocodile Dragon Armor creates dense scales that substantially increase resistance to lightning and physical attacks 10 12.
  • His flames later develop into Extreme Fire, which burns through Da Ming’s scales 30.
  • After devouring the Infernal Delicate Apricot, his Extreme Fire was strengthened and his fire-poison immunity reached one hundred percent 32.

Tiger’s Minion

After killing the Six-Winged Dark Gold Tiger, the Mastiff gained the ability to convert defeated targets into absolutely obedient spectral servants.

  • The converted servant retains portions of its former abilities and memories.
  • Demon Spirit retained ninety percent of his mental power and illusion abilities after conversion 18.
  • Demon Spirit served as a scout, infiltrator, defensive shield, and lightning delay mechanism 18 19.
  • Myriad Demon King was later converted to restrain Bi Ji and obstruct Di Tian 20 21.
  • The servants can function as regenerative wraith-like entities, but Bi Ji’s life force can suppress them 21 24.

Speed, Senses, and Hunting Instinct

His speed is consistently his greatest practical combat advantage.

  • Can evade Scarlet King’s Hellfire so quickly that only afterimages remain 5.
  • Uses scent to track hidden prey and pursue injured enemies across long distances 9 31.
  • Exploits openings created by oversized opponents, limited mobility, and emotional reactions 19 30.
  • Can shift from escape to ambush almost instantly, as shown when he used Di Tian as a distraction to capture Zi Ji 21.

Relationships

  • Devour the Heavens System — His system guide and source of missions, cultivation rewards, bloodline fusion, and servant conversion 1 18.
  • Xiong JunDark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear ancestor who sought revenge for his slain clansmen. The Mastiff defeated him, fused his Behemoth bloodline, and obtained Heaven-Rending Claw; Gu Yuena intervened before he could consume Xiong Jun completely 3 13 14.
  • Three-Eyed Golden Lion — Her intervention to protect a Blood-red Baboon brought Scarlet King into conflict with the Mastiff. The Mastiff recognizes her as Wang Qiu’er from his prior knowledge 4 5.
  • Scarlet King — Early ferocious-beast opponent and guardian of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. The Mastiff repeatedly outsped, wounded, and taunted him 5 6 15.
  • Zi Ji — Hell Demon Dragon whom the Mastiff wounded, bled, and later captured through a diversion against Di Tian. Her blood gave him dragon-derived power 7 8 21.
  • Di Tian — Primary rival among the Star Dou Great Forest’s rulers. The Mastiff ambushed him, tore off his wing, exploited Bi Ji’s death and Di Tian’s exhaustion, then reduced him to a critically injured captive before Gu Yuena intervened 20 25 27.
  • Gu Yuena — Silver Dragon King and authority figure the Mastiff refuses to acknowledge. Their relationship is defined by mutual hostility, her interest in his extinct bloodline, and his defiance of her commands 14 15 27.
  • Demon Spirit — Former tenth-ranked Savage Beast turned into the Mastiff’s first tiger minion. He serves as a scout, illusionist, infiltrator, and disposable shield 17 18.
  • Myriad Demon King — Former plant-type Savage Beast devoured in an ambush, then converted into a spectral servant to restrain Bi Ji and obstruct Di Tian 19 21.
  • Bi Ji — Emerald Swan healer whose life force countered the Mastiff’s Wraith Servants. He killed her to remove Di Tian’s healing support 24 25.
  • Tang San — Sea God who considers the Mastiff an uncontrollable threat. Tang San manipulated Heavenly Tribulation against him and sent Da Ming and Er Ming to kill him 28 29.
  • Da Ming and Er MingTang San’s divine-beast enforcers. The Mastiff wounded Da Ming, consumed part of his flesh, gained Azure Dragon traits, and nearly killed Er Ming before Tang San teleported them away 29 30.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Reincarnation and Early Hunts

The Mastiff begins his new life by killing a 30,000-year Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear that attempts to steal his first meal. The system rewards him, but the kill puts Xiong Jun’s clan and much of the Star Dou Great Forest on his trail 1 3.

He builds his strength through the Blood-red Baboons and Crocodile Dragon, learning to treat every hunt as resource collection: meat, hide, Soul Ring, bloodline, and cultivation. Reaching 100,000 years forces him to endure his first Heavenly Tribulation 3 9 10.

Defiance of the Star Dou Great Forest

After encountering the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, he clashes with Scarlet King and Zi Ji, drinking Zi Ji’s blood before escaping Di Tian. He later defeats Xiong Jun, fuses the bear’s ancestral power, and rejects Gu Yuena’s attempt to claim the wounded bear 5 8 13 15.

Surrounded by the forest’s strongest beasts, he refuses capture, withstands Di Tian’s human-form punch, kills a Six-Winged Dark Gold Tiger in front of Di Tian, and uses the ensuing 200,000-year tribulation as cover to devour Demon Spirit 15 18.

Counter-Hunt and Wraith Servants

With Demon Spirit as a spy, the Mastiff changes from a hunted target into a systematic hunter of the Ten Great Savage Beasts. He ambushes the isolated Myriad Demon King, devours his essence, then turns both Demon Spirit and Myriad Demon King into spectral servants 18 20.

He uses his servants to divide Di Tian’s group, capture Zi Ji, and exploit the emotional priorities of his enemies. Gu Yuena deduces that the servants’ source energy has been transferred to the Mastiff, explaining his rapid rise in cultivation 20 21.

Conflict with Shrek Academy and Di Tian

The Mastiff’s threat forces an unprecedented alliance between Di Tian’s faction and Shrek Academy. He battles Taotie Douluo Xuan Zi with speed, flames, spatially destructive claws, and hit-and-run tactics, steadily exhausting the older man’s Soul Power 23 24.

He then eliminates Bi Ji to remove Di Tian’s healing support, orders his servants to sacrifice themselves against Dragon God’s Claw, and brutally overwhelms the exhausted Beast God. Gu Yuena arrives before he can finish Di Tian, leading to a prolonged standoff and a later Heavenly Tribulation manipulated by Tang San 25 28.

Pursuit of Tang San’s Enforcers

After surviving Tang San’s enhanced tribulation, the Mastiff is attacked by Da Ming and Er Ming. He exploits their size and reduced mobility, burns through Da Ming’s scales with Extreme Fire, and gains a major evolution from consuming Da Ming’s flesh 29 30.

When Tang San teleports the two divine beasts away, the Mastiff tracks them by scent toward the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well, continuing his pursuit rather than returning to the Star Dou Great Forest 30 31.
