Background

Naruto was a struggling Ninja Academy student whose poor grades—especially with the Clone Technique—threatened his dream of becoming Hokage. After vandalizing the Hokage Rock, he was treated to Ichiraku Ramen by Iruka, then collapsed at home after experiencing a sudden mental shock. 1

He later gained access to Awen’s memories, which revealed the world’s possible past and future. The knowledge immediately changed Naruto’s relationship with Kurama: rather than remaining enemies, the two formed an alliance and prepared to alter the future together. 2

Using foreknowledge, Naruto allowed Mizuki to lead him to the Scroll of Seals, learned the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, and exposed Mizuki’s betrayal. Naruto’s anger at Mizuki insulting Kurama became an early sign of his loyalty to the Nine-Tails. 3

After becoming a Konoha shinobi, Naruto joined Team 7 under Kakashi Hatake alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno.
