Background / History

Shion was born with extraordinary shrine maiden power. Her mother, Miroku, feared that this power would run wild and sealed it through a bell; Miroku also ordered the Land of Demons' priests not to teach Shion techniques apart from sealing arts. The same power is linked to death prophecies: visions are triggered by people sincerely willing to sacrifice themselves to protect her. 81

As Mōryō's revival began, Shion received a catastrophic vision of a golden nine-tailed figure being pierced through the chest by a purple Chakra Dragon, followed by the destruction of the Shinobi World. She identified the boy in the vision as Naruto and became consumed by despair. 77 81

When Team Kakashi arrived to escort her, Shion immediately recognized Naruto as the person from her prophecy and bluntly told him that he would die. Naruto's refusal to fear the prediction—and his vow to become Hokage before dying—began to undermine her fatalism. 81 82

At Mōryō's altar, Shion discovered that she possessed powers beyond sealing. After Yomi interrupted her ritual and Mōryō revived, Naruto encouraged her to trust the immense chakra within herself. Together, they formed a Rasengan around her bell and destroyed Mōryō with the Super Chakra Ice Release Rasengan. 84
