History

Mythology Era Conflicts

The Sacred Spirit Race gains a reputation for arrogance, hostility toward other races, and massacres following the emergence of powerful members. Daode Tianzun suppresses Sacred Spirits and refines their remains into divine fluid. A newly emerged Perfected Sacred Spirit and its followers attack his inheritance in revenge, only to be destroyed when he reveals that he is still alive 37 38.

Emperor Zun’s return through a Sacred Spirit-like transformation provokes eighteen Perfected Sacred Spirits. He kills them all, and his Immortal Ascension Cauldron absorbs their corpses, origins, blood essence, and weapons. His successful rebirth also encourages Dark Supremes to regard Sacred Spirits as research material for longevity 45 46.

Imperial Factions

Spirit Emperor establishes Spirit God Mountain on Gouchen Ancient Star. Sacred Spirits gathering under him oppress the Human and Demon Races. His attempt to plunder Li Ming’s supposed grave ends in defeat, prolonged imprisonment, and eventual consumption by the Myriad Souls Banner 155 156.

Stone Emperor later establishes the Sacred Spirit Heavenly Court after slaughtering rival Quasi-Emperors and attaining Emperor Enlightenment. Its collapse following an attack on Undying Mountain leaves Sacred Spirits exposed to widespread persecution 205 211.

Transformation Research and Persecution

Li Ming’s public explanation of the transformation method gives Dark Supremes an alternative to self-slashing and devouring living beings. The Lord of Taichu offers Taichu Divine Mountain as a protected transformation site, though many Supremes distrust his recruitment conditions 119 120.

The successes of Li Hu, Taichu, and Boundless Heavenly Venerable repeatedly revive interest in the method. Sacred Spirits are hunted, possessed, and refined; liquid extracted from incomplete specimens is used to improve infants’ constitutions. Li Hu promotes coexistence among races but does not intervene to protect Sacred Spirits 211 212 221 223.

By Old God’s awakening, the Immortal Mausoleum has effectively become a Sacred Spirit Forbidden Zone, populated by former Supremes undergoing transformation into stone embryos 251.
