Background
Emperor Zun was originally known as Primordial Heavenly Venerable, a disciple of Tribulation Heavenly Venerable. After his former master’s corpse developed a new consciousness and became Netherworld Emperor Duan De, their old master-disciple relationship became uncertain. 46 47
Seeking another lifetime without self-severance, he employed a Sacred Spirit Transformation Method. The process took more than a million years and left him reborn in a human form with the Dao charm of a being nurtured by heaven and earth. Upon returning, he discarded his former name and proclaimed himself Emperor Zun. 46
Before his return, Li Ming repeatedly regarded Emperor Zun as a potential threat and speculated that his later historical atrocities might stem from a curse or contamination by Dark Strangeness. These suspicions remain unconfirmed during Emperor Zun’s re-emergence. 4 16 28 45
Appearance
Emperor Zun appears as a handsome, dashing young man despite having lived for more than ten thousand years in his current lifetime. His bearing is heroic and authoritative, shaped by his position as lord of the Heavenly Court. 48
- Retains a human appearance after Sacred Spirit transformation. 4 48
- Surrounded by Great Dao charm and chaotic qi. 48
- Commonly manifests the Immortal Ascension Cauldron above his head. 46 48
- His return is accompanied by world-shaking Dao phenomena and the destruction of the sacred mountain that nurtured his transformed body. 46
Personality
Emperor Zun is supremely confident, ambitious, and domineering. He considers himself Heaven’s favored child, dismisses the Perfected Sacred Spirits as beings incapable of attaining the Dao, and declares his right to establish the Heavenly Court and rule the world. 46
His ambitions extend beyond personal survival. He seeks to unite cultivators under the Heavenly Court, refine Nine-Revolution Immortal Elixirs, lead believers toward ascension, and explore the Road to Immortality. 47 48
This confidence can become overconfidence. After defeating Netherworld Venerable, he publicly declares his intention to challenge Demon Venerable Li Ming, only to be nearly cut down immediately and decisively defeated in their subsequent battle. 47 48
Despite this, he is pragmatic rather than vindictive. He accepts Li Ming’s superiority, heals and cultivates for a century after losing, and later approaches Li Ming with an invitation to cooperate rather than seek revenge. 48
Abilities & Skills
Sacred Spirit Transformation
Emperor Zun’s longevity method remade him through prolonged Sacred Spirit transformation rather than self-severance.
- Lived through a transformation lasting over one million years. 46
- Retained his human form rather than becoming a true Sacred Spirit. 4 46
- Returned with vastly enhanced lifespan, vitality, and combat power. 46
- His success inspires Dark Supremes to consider Sacred Spirit transformation as an alternative to Dark Turmoils. 46
Heavenly Venerable Combat
Emperor Zun possesses extraordinary physical strength, Great Dao mastery, and endurance.
- Slaughtered eighteen Perfected Sacred Spirits alone, resisting their curse techniques and destroying their divine weapons. 46
- Fought Netherworld Venerable in a prolonged Cosmic Frontier Wasteland battle; Netherworld Venerable was destroyed six times and Emperor Zun four times before both recovered. 47
- Can reconstruct his body and primordial spirit after being blown apart. 47
- His Eternal Ascension Power manifests through Great Dao runes and can unleash world-destroying force. 47
- Remains substantially inferior to Li Ming, whose Flying Immortal Power and Heavenly Demonic Saber repeatedly shattered Emperor Zun’s body and inflicted lingering Great Dao injuries. 47 48
Dao Runes and Curse Resistance
Emperor Zun employs nine mysterious Emperor Runes embodying the power of laws.
- The nine runes erased the Perfected Sacred Spirits’ curse techniques before they could affect him. 46
- He combines Great Dao runes into Eternal Ascension Power during high-level combat. 47
Longevity and Recovery
His transformed body possesses exceptional regenerative capacity.
- Reassembled after repeated bodily destruction during his sparring battle with Netherworld Venerable. 47
- Used Immortal Medicine juice to restore himself to peak condition before fighting Li Ming. 48
- Required a century of recuperation and cultivation to fully erase the Great Dao injuries caused by Li Ming. 48
Music and Divine Melody
Emperor Zun is accomplished in the Dao of music and uses the Horn of War as both weapon and instrument.
- Created a divine melody after comprehending the Divine Flower’s Immortal Dao laws. 50
- Its sound spread through the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands and awakened numerous slumbering Dark Supremes. 50
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Immortal Ascension Cauldron — His weapon of enlightenment, forged from all Nine Immortal Metals. It devours enemies, weapons, origins, blood, and Immortal Gold; it later becomes an Immortal Weapon. 46 48
- Horn of War — A second Extreme Dao Weapon and musical instrument used to perform Emperor Zun’s divine melody. 50
- Divine Flower — A unique flower said to have fallen from the Immortal Domain. Its bloom reveals profound Immortal Dao laws, and Emperor Zun preserves its seed after it withers. 49 50
- Humanoid Immortal Medicine — Previously consumed by Emperor Zun to live a new lifetime; its juice remains useful for restoring his condition, though it can no longer extend his lifespan. 48
Relationships
- Netherworld Emperor Duan De / Netherworld Venerable — Formerly his master, Tribulation Heavenly Venerable. Their relationship becomes ambiguous after Duan De’s corpse-born rebirth; they spar, exchange Dao insights, and later cooperate on restoring the Ninety-Nine Dragon Mountains. 46 47 48
- Li Ming / Demon Venerable — A rival vastly stronger than Emperor Zun. Li Ming defeats him but later provides an Immortal Treasure Map and access to the damaged Ninety-Nine Dragon Mountains; Emperor Zun subsequently invites him to join the Heavenly Court. 47 48
- Chuan Ying — Loyal protégé and close companion who attempts to protect Emperor Zun after his defeat by Li Ming. 48
- Daode Tianzun — Fellow Heavenly Venerable invited to witness the Divine Flower and join the Feixian Star expedition. 49 50
- Lingbao Tianzun — Fellow Heavenly Venerable whose formation mastery is needed to dismantle the Road to Immortality’s seal. 49 50
- Perfected Sacred Spirits — Enemies who attack him over his use of Sacred Spirit lineage secrets and the occupation of their sacred mountain; Emperor Zun kills all eighteen. 46
