Emperor Zun was originally known as Primordial Heavenly Venerable, a disciple of Tribulation Heavenly Venerable. After his former master’s corpse developed a new consciousness and became Netherworld Emperor Duan De, their old master-disciple relationship became uncertain. 46 47

Seeking another lifetime without self-severance, he employed a Sacred Spirit Transformation Method. The process took more than a million years and left him reborn in a human form with the Dao charm of a being nurtured by heaven and earth. Upon returning, he discarded his former name and proclaimed himself Emperor Zun. 46

Before his return, Li Ming repeatedly regarded Emperor Zun as a potential threat and speculated that his later historical atrocities might stem from a curse or contamination by Dark Strangeness. These suspicions remained unconfirmed during Emperor Zun’s re-emergence. 4 16 28 45

Emperor Zun later encountered and studied a mysterious ink-black mist whose unknown laws resisted his Eternal Ascension Power, Chaotic Divine Thunder, and Great Dao Flame. Although the entity tempted him with the World Cauldron method of refining entire worlds and living beings into a weapon, he did not carry out such a plan in this timeline. 57 60

His successful ascension into the Immortal Domain, followed by its cleansing baptism, disproves Li Ming’s earlier belief that Emperor Zun was contaminated by Dark Strangeness or destined to fall into darkness. He is subsequently described as having become a Red Dust Immortal and entered the Immortal Domain with Daode Tianzun and Lingbao Tianzun. 68 84

Emperor Zun is supremely confident, ambitious, and domineering. He considers himself Heaven’s favored child, dismisses the Perfected Sacred Spirits as beings incapable of attaining the Dao, and declares his right to establish the Heavenly Court and rule the world. 46

His ambitions extend beyond personal survival. He seeks to unite cultivators under the Heavenly Court, refine Nine-Revolution Immortal Elixirs, lead believers toward ascension, and explore the Road to Immortality. 47 48

This confidence can become overconfidence. After defeating Netherworld Venerable, he publicly declares his intention to challenge Demon Venerable Li Ming, only to be nearly cut down immediately and decisively defeated in their subsequent battle. 47 48

Despite this, he is pragmatic rather than vindictive. He accepts Li Ming’s superiority, heals and cultivates for a century after losing, and later approaches Li Ming with an invitation to cooperate rather than seek revenge. 48

Emperor Zun is also an innovator who seeks to accomplish feats thought impossible by others. He assists Chuan Ying in creating the Alternative Enlightenment realm, opens the Gate to Immortality through unprecedented preparations, and leads an entire organization toward collective ascension. 65 66

Battle with Netherworld Venerable

He confronts Netherworld Venerable to test whether his former master remains the same person after Corpse Spirit Awakening. Their battle devastates the Cosmic Frontier Wasteland, but ends in mutual respect and Dao discussion. 47

Challenge to Demon Venerable

Entry into the Immortal Domain

Emperor Zun leads the expedition through successive Heavenly Gates, the Sea of Mortal Dust, an intermediary Immortal world, and the final gate of the Immortal Domain. When the ascenders’ bodies and primordial spirits begin transforming into Immortal Dao Runes, Li Ming protects them from the Reincarnation Lake. Emperor Zun ultimately completes the transformation and enters the Immortal Domain with the other ascenders. 67 68

Legacy of the Heavenly Court

Emperor Zun’s departure leaves the Heavenly Court without its lord, Chuan Ying, or the Immortal Ascension Cauldron. Its survivors rename it the Divine Organization, but Dark Supremes, Immortal Weapons, and opportunists rapidly plunder and destroy its territories.
