Background
The Heavenly Emperor was originally an Immortal Phoenix from the Immortal Domain. A clash between the Desolate Pagoda and Kunlun Immortal Bell tore open a Space-Time Rift, through which he fell onto Heaven-Piercing Ancient Star severely injured. The lower world's Great Dao suppressed his cultivation, prevented him from using the Phoenix Secret Art, and left him with only a trace of divine power 56.
Human cultivators soon hunted him for his exceptionally pure phoenix bloodline. After destroying their warship with a hidden trump card, he captured and soul-searched their Holy Son for a Human Race Sage Scripture. He then discarded his remaining demon power and rebuilt his cultivation through the local system 56.
When Great Saint Qingxia attempted to enslave him, he refused to surrender his soul imprint even at the risk of death. His Immortal Phoenix Imprint temporarily destroyed Qingxia's body, but Qingxia survived with the Myriad Souls Banner. Li Ming arrived before Qingxia could finish him, annihilated the Great Saint's Primordial Spirit, and saved the Heavenly Emperor 57.
Body Seizure and Dragon Transformation
Elder Yu Changsheng later captured the Heavenly Emperor and refined him inside an alchemy furnace as a supposed longevity pill ingredient. The Heavenly Emperor used the furnace's medicinal essence to heal, awaken his divine blood, and advance, but Yu Changsheng anticipated his escape with the Heavenly Net and a Beast-Taming Mark 72.
Yu Changsheng used a damaged possession art to exchange bodies: he took the Heavenly Emperor's youthful Immortal Phoenix body, while the Heavenly Emperor awoke in Yu Changsheng's aged, dying body within a Dragon Vein. Rather than pursue immediate revenge, the Heavenly Emperor used the Zhulong Scripture, Dragon Marrow, and dragon qi to rebuild himself 73.
His new body ultimately evolved into a red Flood Dragon. He refined the Dragon Pool, shed scales, horns, and tribulation lightning into the Red Dragon Saber, then rose as the Red Dragon King 73 74.
Return as the Undying Heavenly Emperor
By the Quasi-Emperor Ninth Heaven, the Heavenly Emperor's Immortal Phoenix bloodline revived. He returned to the form of a Five-Colored Immortal Phoenix and became the Undying Heavenly Emperor revered by the Primordial races 81.
He later disappeared from Purple Mountain and operated as a hidden force who hunted Ancient Emperors and Supremes for their Origin Essence Blood. His stronghold retained a powerful imprint capable of attacking intruders even in his absence 114.
The Heavenly Emperor secretly removed his eldest and second sons from Purple Mountain and concealed them within a space hidden in Chaos. His eldest son was later discovered as an unborn child inside a black stone egg, parasitized by a strange creature's seed 148.
Final Defeat
While possessed by an aberration, the Heavenly Emperor fused the mysteries of the Phoenix clan into a Fallen Phoenix-like form and attacked the Heaven-Burying Coffin, seeking to verify whether Li Ming had truly died 186.
On the Road to Immortality, Li Ming destroyed his Five-Colored Immortal Phoenix body with a punch. The Heavenly Emperor's Heavenly Heart Imprint then collapsed, and his figure appeared within the Myriad Souls Banner, confirming that he had become one of its consumed souls 187.
Appearance
The Heavenly Emperor's original human form was that of an exceptionally handsome young man in five-colored feathered robes. His crystal-clear body and flowing blood emitted a faint five-colored radiance 56.
- True form: A magnificent Five-Colored Immortal Phoenix.
- Phoenix blood: Five-colored, unusually pure, and sought after by cultivators as a cultivation resource 56.
- Red Dragon form: A crimson Flood Dragon with scales, claws, horns, and overwhelming dragon might 73.
- Red Dragon King form: A handsome young man clad in crimson armor 73.
Personality
The Heavenly Emperor was intensely proud and refused Qingxia's demand that he submit his soul and become a sacred land's servant or guardian beast 57. Even after losing his Immortal Domain cultivation, he retained confidence in his own talent and treated adaptation to the lower world's cultivation system as a temporary setback 56.
He was resourceful under extreme pressure, turning imprisonment, furnace refinement, and a dying body into opportunities for cultivation. His later conflict with Yu Changsheng was driven by lasting humiliation and a determination to reclaim power through revenge 72 74.
After regaining his phoenix body and status, he became secretive and predatory, pursuing the origins and blood essence of Ancient Emperors and Supremes from the shadows 114.
