Background

Xia Weier lost both parents at approximately five or six years old. After neighbors coveted her family home, she nearly became homeless until an elderly servant of the Jiang Family adopted her. Her inherited insecurity, aversion to crowded celebrations, and restrained manner stem from this childhood hardship. 23 28

She grew up alongside Jiang Shuanglan and became her childhood companion, with their bond described as closer to that of sisters. Recognizing Weier’s talent, Jiang Shuanglan brought her to Jade Cauldron Paradise about a year before the events of Chapter 21. 21 23

Beneath that timidity, she is observant, principled, and more resilient than she appears. She sees through Chen Feng’s repeated attempts to manipulate her, avoids him rather than accepting his staged heroics, and ultimately refuses to become his Dao companion. 22 32

Her compassion is especially evident in her treatment of Xiao Nannan, whose abandonment reminds Weier of her own childhood. She initiates Nannan’s adoption into the household and assumes responsibility for the child’s daily care. 24 25

Cleansing the Northern Region

Jiang Yun initially makes Weier confront bandits herself to temper her resolve. The slaughter of a village transforms her reluctance into decisive action, and she helps eliminate more than a dozen bandit groups. 42

She publicly challenges the Lihuo Sect for supporting the bandits, destroys its mountain gate, and fights the sect master and Grand Elder using Imperial Dragon Qi. Jiang Yun rescues her after the Grand Elder traps her inside the Lihuo Divine Furnace. 42 43 44
