| Mandala Snake — initial capture | 1 | Lu Shi captures it while limited to targets within his then-current Hundred-Year Soul Beast capacity; it continues cultivating inside its Small World rather than being killed for a conventional Soul Ring. |
| Flame Spirit Eagle — approximately 600 years | 7 | Captured after the Notting Academy principal incapacitates it; it survives by absorbing lava restored within its volcanic Small World. |
| Mandala Snake and Flame Spirit Eagle — Thousand-Year Soul Beasts | 8 | Both reach the Thousand-Year stage over four years, and Lu Shi’s associated Soul Rings become purple. |
| Thunder-Patterned Sacred Tiger — near 2,000 years | 12, 13 | A rare lightning-attribute tiger encountered in Star Dou Forest; Lu Shi expends over half his Soul Power to subdue and capture it. |
| Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts | 1, 11, 38, 40 | Such beings can contend with Titled Douluo-level Soul Masters. Xiao Wu is one after taking human form, while the Titan Giant Ape is recognized as the “King of the Forest.” |
Nature and Cultivation
Soul Beasts are creatures that cultivate Soul Power over long periods. Their growth is far slower than that of human Soul Masters, but a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast can rival a Titled Douluo despite the latter cultivating for only around a century. Many strengthen a single trait or small set of traits to an extreme, such as strength, venom, flames, or speed 11.
Their cultivation can increase through devouring other Soul Beasts, environmental changes that affect their Soul Power, and consuming heavenly treasures. Captured Soul Beasts retain the ability to cultivate and grow stronger inside Lu Shi’s Small Worlds 1 3.
Soul Beasts also prey upon one another. Alongside human hunting for Soul Rings and Soul Bones, this contributes to their decline 36.
Human Transformation
A Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast may assume human form. Before reaching maturity at level sixty, however, its true identity can be recognized by Soul Masters at the Soul Douluo rank or above 40.
- Xiao Wu — a Hundred-Thousand-Year rabbit Soul Beast living as a human student; Lu Shi identifies her true nature after seeing her emerge unharmed from the Titan Giant Ape’s grasp 1 40.
- Ah Yin — a juvenile Blue Silver Emperor with no memories of her former life after being captured by Lu Shi; she becomes the core of a grassland Small World 49.
Relationship with Soul Masters
Conventionally, Soul Masters kill Soul Beasts to obtain Soul Rings. Soul Beast bodies may also yield valuable materials, while high-level Soul Beasts can provide immensely sought-after Soul Bones 6 40.
A Soul Beast may alternatively sacrifice itself to a Soul Master. Compared with ordinary hunting, sacrifice is described as less risky for the recipient and capable of producing a stronger Soul Ring and special abilities 40.
Lu Shi’s Poké Ball Martial Soul breaks this convention:
- He can capture Soul Beasts without weakening or killing them first, forming a direct spiritual connection after capture 1.
- Captured creatures become completely obedient to him while retaining their personalities, instincts, and ability to cultivate 2 43.
- Each major captured Soul Beast creates or inhabits a specialized Small World suited to its attributes, such as forest, volcanic lava, grassland, or perpetual thunderstorms 1 7 43 49.
- Their cultivation can nourish Lu Shi in return, creating a cycle of mutual growth 4 7 49.
Known Soul Beasts

Small World Ecosystems
Lu Shi expands his Small Worlds beyond housing his main contracted Soul Beasts. He introduces low-level animal Soul Beasts, plant Soul Beasts, medicinal herbs, and fruit trees to build sustainable habitats 42 43 50.
- Mandala Snake’s Small World — a forest centered on a banyan tree, later populated with animals, medicinal plants, fruit trees, a Weasel-tailed Mouse, and a Leaf Velvet Worm 1 42 43.
- Flame Spirit Eagle’s Small World — a barren volcanic realm that requires Lu Shi’s Soul Power to restore lava; only fire-compatible Soul Beasts can endure its extreme heat 7 43.
- Thunder-Patterned Sacred Tiger’s Small World — a thunderstorm-filled environment used to house lightning-compatible creatures, including a Thunder Spider whose silk inflicts electric paralysis 43 50.
- Ah Yin’s Small World — a grassland dense with Blue Silver Grass, where Ah Yin serves as the central plant-type Soul Beast 49.
- Spider population — Lu Shi collects eleven spider-type Soul Beasts ranging from roughly 200 to 1,500 years, intending to support the future evolution of the Eight Spider Lances 50.
