Background / History

Lu Shi was a transmigrated orphan from Pallet Town in the Heaven Dou Empire. Six years after arriving in the world, he awakened a red-and-white Poké Ball Martial Soul and Innate Full Soul Power. Unable to pay tuition after his adoptive parents died, he enrolled at Notting City Junior Soul Master Academy as a work-study student and was assigned to Dorm Seven. 1

He declined Xiao Wu’s challenge for control of Dorm Seven because he recognized her as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast in human form. Rather than pursuing a schoolyard fight, he immediately sought a Mandala Snake as the first foundation of his cultivation path. 1

In Soul Hunting Forest, Lu Shi discovered that his Poké Ball could capture a soul beast instantly without weakening or killing it. Capturing the Mandala Snake formed a mental bond, produced his first Soul Ring, and revealed the existence of the internal Small World where his captured beasts could live and cultivate. 1 4

When Yu Xiaogang tried to recruit him as a disciple, Lu Shi refused and challenged the “Master’s” practical credentials. He then fabricated a theory of Martial Soul mutation in exchange for Yu Xiaogang’s century-old soul-beast reference book, deliberately encouraging Yu Xiaogang to develop Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass through poison-type Soul Rings. 2 3

After reaching level 20, Lu Shi entered Star Dou Forest with Notting Academy’s principal and captured the Flame Spirit Eagle. Four years later, he graduated early at level 30, returned alone to Star Dou Forest in search of a tiger-type third soul beast, and rescued Zhu Zhuqing from Gale Wolves during her flight from Star Luo succession conflict. 7 8 9

Lu Shi and Zhu Zhuqing subsequently traveled together. He captured the Thunder-Patterned Sacred Tiger, acquired the Dragon Beard Needle crystal in Suotuo City, and used purified Whale Rubber to strengthen Zhu Zhuqing’s physique and improve her future soul-ring tolerance. 13 14 16

At Shrek Academy, Lu Shi concealed much of his power but revealed three thousand-year Soul Rings during the entrance assessment. His attacks injured the Soul Saint Zhao Wuji, while his conduct during the battle earned the loyalty and admiration of Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong. 18 22 23

After recovering the Eight Spider Lances from a Man Faced Demon Spider, Lu Shi learned why Tang Hao had forced him to stay away from Xiao Wu. He later left Shrek with Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong, citing both his lack of further growth there and the danger Tang Hao posed. 40 47

Lu Shi infiltrated the cave behind the waterfall at Holy Soul Village, relocated the juvenile Blue Silver Emperor Ah Yin, and absorbed both the Eight Spider Lances and the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. He then captured Ah Yin, reached level 40, and began expanding his Small World into a self-sustaining soul-beast ecosystem before traveling to Heaven Dou Royal Academy. 48 49 50

Appearance

Lu Shi was initially described as tall and slender, with black hair, black eyes, and fair skin. After years of cultivation, he grew to nearly 1.8 meters tall and was noted for an appearance that Tang San considered markedly superior to his own. 1 15

Personality

Lu Shi is calculating, observant, and highly independent. He distrusts authority based on reputation alone, as shown by his immediate rejection of Yu Xiaogang’s offer and his use of fabricated scholarship to exploit Yu Xiaogang’s ambition. 2 3

He plans years ahead, choosing soul beasts for eventual evolution, team roles, environmental needs, and long-term synergy rather than for immediate Soul Ring benefits alone. He also habitually withholds the full nature of his Martial Soul and abilities from outsiders. 7 8 18

Despite his manipulative side, Lu Shi is protective toward people and creatures he considers his own. He rescues Zhu Zhuqing, shields Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu during Zhao Wuji’s test, and builds habitats, food supplies, and cultivation resources for his soul beasts rather than treating them as disposable tools. 9 23 43 50
