Xiao Zhao is an experienced murder-mystery player who has cleared multiple scenarios. Before entering Class Reunion, he relies heavily on livestream feedback, treating viewers as paying patrons whose preferences should shape his choices. This tendency leaves him visibly conflicted and easily influenced. 5 9

In Class Reunion, he receives the role of Second-generation Zhao: the son of wealthy businessman Boss Zhao and the nominal owner of the reunion villa, which belongs to his family’s company. He arrives with Basketball Qiao, bringing butlers and bodyguards to prepare the reunion dinner. 7 8 9

Scenario past

Second-generation Zhao and Basketball Qiao were poor students during their school years. Zhao frequently skipped school, acted as an “ATM” for local thugs, and associated with the School Bully’s circle. Like several classmates, he participated in the verbal exclusion of Doctor Zhen. 19 20 23

Ying De later blackmailed Zhao into providing the family villa. Zhao conceals the specific leverage used against him, admitting only that he did not want the others to investigate Ying De’s threats or Basketball Qiao’s connection to the property. 20

Zhao and Qiao are biological brothers. Their shared history, particularly the death of their mother in a hit-and-run connected to Lawyer Jin’s criminal client, drives Zhao’s intense hostility toward Lawyer Jin. 26 37

Early investigation

Zhao introduces himself with a polished but imprecise account of playing games in his room after dinner. His lack of concrete times immediately makes Zhen Liu suspicious. 9 10

He helps establish a temporary truce over side quests, but later disappears during evidence collection, returns in changed clothes, and falsely claims to have remained in his room sorting clues. Zhen Liu instinctively recognizes the lie. 13 17

Secret chamber and false confession

After Zhen Liu exposes the concealed chamber, Zhao explains that it was originally a home-elevator shaft converted into an escape-room feature. He admits that he had considered hiding a body there, but Zhen Liu detects that his account contains lies. 33

Zhao and Qiao later reveal that both had encountered Ying De’s body in the chamber and had independently altered the scene because each believed the other had killed him. Their mutual cover-up obscures the true sequence of the murder. 35 37

Campaign against Lawyer Jin

Driven by resentment over his mother’s death, Zhao treats Lawyer Jin’s corrupt legal history as proof that Jin must have murdered Ying De. He initiates an Early Referendum, but it fails when Professor Lu unexpectedly votes against it. 25 27

Zhao later attempts to force a favorable outcome by offering Zhen Liu a deal: Zhao and Qiao will protect Doctor Zhen’s secret if Zhen and Lucien support voting out Lawyer Jin. The proposal is designed to secure victory regardless of the true murderer. 38

Breaking the loop

Zhen Liu rejects Zhao’s revenge-driven plan and identifies the scenario’s true condition: the murderer must be handed to the police, not Brother Hao. Zhao is shaken by the possibility that every prior attempt to sacrifice Lawyer Jin merely enabled Brother Hao to burn everyone alive. 39

After resisting for numerous resets, Zhao agrees to pool information with the entire group. This decision helps break the repeating tragedy of Class Reunion. 40

Confronting responsibility

When Brother Hao admits that the reunion was a failed kidnapping operation targeting Zhao, Zhao realizes that dismissing his bodyguards and behaving arrogantly helped place everyone in danger. He is overwhelmed by guilt over Qiao’s death and the deaths of their classmates. 43

Following the perfect clear, Zhao accepts the truth and reconciles with Qiao. Both choose to retain their memories after being restored to life because they do not want to forget Zhen Liu’s help. 44 48
