His birth was regarded as a sign of divine favor: Belanka flowers bloomed throughout the courtyard, and he was born with golden eyes associated with the Creator God. The previous Pope overruled opposition from the Gales royal family and named him a candidate for Pope 182.

Rise within the Holy See

During Duke Bass Riches’s coup in Gadayat, he rescued Xia Zuoyi from pursuing knights in the Kaies church. He judged Bishop Bolton and the acting bishop for participating in the royal assassination, ordered their executions, and had the church burned, both erasing the compromised site and creating an escape route for Xia’s allies 36 37.

He later oversaw Gaina’s succession dispute. Though his golden-armored knights uncovered evidence of Prince Light’s relationship with his male servant, Segalot withheld it and observed the conflict rather than immediately intervening; after Bruno Green’s evidence collapsed, Segalot declared Light the rightful heir 46 47.

Segalot personally led the Holy See delegation to Desinia Territory rather than sending bishops. He offered Xia formal Holy See recognition, the right to appoint local clergy, and protection from outside interference in Desinia’s internal governance 47.
