Lu Mingfei considers himself an ordinary, cowardly “loser” who was unwillingly pulled into dragon-slaying and world-saving affairs after entering Kassel Academy. Before learning about his future, his ideal life was modest: earning enough money, finding someone he loved, taking over a neighborhood newsstand, and living without financial worries. He doubts that he truly deserves his S-rank status. 33

His most dangerous advantage is his connection to Lu Mingze, the self-proclaimed “Little Demon.” Lu Mingfei has made two bargains with him, each costing a quarter of his lifespan. Despite his possible connection to the Black Emperor and other draconic titles, Lu Mingfei insists that he is simply Lu Mingfei: the son of Lu Lincheng and Qiao Weini, whose home is with his uncle’s family at Oak Garden. Despite his habit of retreating into humor and pessimism, he cannot fully abandon people in danger. Learning Erii’s fate leaves him determined to save her, and he eventually resolves to confront Lu Mingze rather than continue avoiding the truth. 35 44

He is easily embarrassed by romantic discussions and by the attention given to his alternate selves. However, he genuinely values the support he receives from the chat group and feels guilty that he has accepted cultivation resources, spiritual fruits, and guidance without offering much in return. 38 45
