Background / History
Klein introduced himself to Su Lin’s group as both “Klein” and “Zhou Mingrui” after arriving at Water Mirror Peak as a newly advanced Sequence 4 Demigod. Modern snacks and takeout mattered to him because he could not yet reproduce familiar food through Historical Projection. 35
While temporarily displaced from his own world, Klein assisted Su Lin in dismantling a human-trafficking organization. He had traced the criminals through divination and Seer abilities, but the loss of access to Sefirah Castle forced him to act personally while disguised in armor. Although offered a place to cultivate on Water Mirror Peak, he declined because his Mythological Creature path could not be changed easily. He instead sought mental-stabilizing treasures and found relief in modern cities, hotel rooms, lights, and ordinary sleep. 41
His time with Su Lin, Zhongli, and the Chat Group became both a recovery period and a training arrangement. Klein consistently defeated Su Lin in sparring, but acknowledged that Su Lin’s rapid growth was making direct fights increasingly difficult for a Seer specializing in indirect combat. 58
Klein formally brought Su Lin, Zhongli, and Lu Mingfei into the Tarot Club, assigning them the identities Mr. Priest, Mr. Hierophant, and Ms. Empress. He later used the club as both an intelligence network and an organized force against threats such as George III, Amon, Zaratul, and Botis. 168 184
During George III’s Apotheosis crisis, Klein coordinated Angel-level allies, Historical Projections, marionettes, and Sefirah Castle while deliberately escalating the battle into chaos to disrupt the ritual. The operation succeeded, but led to Zaratul’s pursuit and Amon’s eventual capture of Klein. 196 197
Klein resisted Amon through self-altered memories, layered contingencies, divine-name invocations, and his connection to Sefirah Castle. Su Lin’s Holy Judgement destroyed the Worms of Time parasitizing Klein, allowing him to return to the Gray Fog and reclaim his consciousness. 205
After advancing through Miracle Invoker and eventually becoming the Fool, Klein continued pursuing higher authority to protect Earth, repay Su Lin’s help, and survive the threat of the Celestial Worthy. His battle with Amon for Sefirah Castle ended with Klein forcing an all-or-nothing convergence that defeated Amon’s immediate claim, though it left Klein facing the Celestial Worthy directly. 380 671 672
Within the Dream World, Klein’s identity split between Zhou Mingrui’s human side and Klein Moretti’s divinity. He ultimately recovered his memories and accepted that both lives were genuinely his, ending the division between the two identities. 787 790
Appearance
Klein is usually depicted as a black-haired, brown-eyed young man with ordinary features and a scholarly demeanor. His appearance is highly mutable because of Faceless abilities, historical disguises, and the many identities he maintains. 35 196 790
- Often adopts formal clothing, especially a top hat, black evening attire, and a crystal monocle. 202 671
- Has used identities including Sherlock Moriarty, Gehrman Sparrow, Dwayne Dantès, and Merlin Hermes. 790
- As the Fool, can manifest sinister tentacles and other signs of Mythological Creature corruption, though he suppresses them with external techniques and items. 380
- His alternate forms and incarnations can appear independently, including personas tied to the Fool Church. 305
Personality
Klein is methodical, cautious, and intensely preparation-oriented. He selects escape routes, marionettes, projections, hired support, concealment, and contingencies before entering dangerous situations; he considers a Seer unprepared for a performance to be incompetent. 162 197
Despite his increasingly divine status, he remains attached to ordinary comforts: modern food, video games, snacks, ice cream, hotel rooms, and time away from constant crisis management. These habits are closely tied to his effort to preserve his humanity. 41 58 240 671
He is outwardly polite, socially adaptable, and capable of appearing warmly enthusiastic even when using Clown and Faceless abilities to conceal discomfort. Beneath that composure, he is sarcastic, easily embarrassed by Su Lin’s pranks, and especially hostile to forced matchmaking or public speculation about his relationships. 102 168 240 443
Klein is compassionate but pragmatic. He accepts that he cannot halt every historical disaster, yet seeks to reduce civilian suffering; he also refuses to pressure Audrey or Sharron into romantic arrangements despite the rewards Su Lin offered them. 160 443
His defiance becomes most visible around Amon. Even while captured, parasitized, and offered advancement, Klein repeatedly refused submission and answered Amon’s recruitment attempts with a demand to be killed. 202 205
Abilities & Skills
Seer Pathway
Klein’s primary power system is the Seer Pathway, which emphasizes preparation, deception, divination, spiritual manipulation, and indirect combat rather than straightforward force. 58 205
- Uses divination to investigate criminal networks, hidden threats, and future possibilities. 41 196
- Creates and controls marionettes, including animal marionettes used for surveillance. 196
- Manipulates Spirit Body Threads and can turn enemies into marionettes. 58 209
- Uses Paper Figurine Substitutes, illusions, air cannons, throwing knives, and other deceptive combat tools. 58
- Can enter the Historical Void to evade attacks or conceal his true body. 194 197
- His pathway is highly survivable but initially gave him few effective ways to harm himself or win direct frontal battles. 58 205
Historical Projection
As a Scholar of Yore and beyond, Klein can pull people, objects, and powers from history into the present. The ability is strengthened by familiarity and interpersonal connection. 164 196
- Summoned Historical Projections of Azik Eggers, Morax, Reinette Tinekerr, Roselle Gustav, and other powerful figures. 196 209
- Retrieves mundane objects from history, including tarot decks, tables, food, clothing, and tools. 168 194
- Can transfer his consciousness into projections to reduce the burden on allies maintaining the summon. 208
- Cannot freely copy system-created entities or powers; attempts to project Su Lin’s Light God avatar failed because system-made abilities cannot be exploited as free historical copies. 164
- A projection’s duration can be stolen or disrupted by Amon. 205
Sefirah Castle and Gray Fog
Klein is the master of Sefirah Castle, the ancient palace above the Gray Fog and the foundation of the Tarot Club. 168 671
- Conceals, observes, and coordinates allies from above the Gray Fog. 175
- Uses crimson stars and prayers to monitor Tarot Club members and receive Anchors. 205
- Can create passages, interfere with rituals, and shield operations from divine observation. 162 175
- Enables him to return to the Gray Fog directly after fully digesting the Scholar of Yore potion, though deep-level parasitism can obstruct this escape. 205
- Became the contested domain in Klein’s decisive battle with Amon for the position of Lord of Mysteries. 671 672
Fooling, Grafting, and Divine Authority
After becoming the Fool, Klein can alter relationships, perceptions, history, and reality through high-level authority. 380 672
- Uses Grafting to connect otherwise unrelated concepts or locations, including creating a black hole during his battle with Amon. 672
- Can Fool historical facts and manipulate cognition, memory, or identity. 380 787
- Suppressed Antigonus’s madness using the River of Eternal Darkness, a Pure Heart Mantra talisman, a Hymn of Light scroll, and Cor Lapis. 380
- Can establish or maintain dream-based realities, though doing so demands immense power and risks loss of control. 871
- His use of Fooling can have uncontrolled collateral effects, including disruption to Chaldea during his Sequence 0 ritual. 380
Combat Strategy
Klein relies on layered plans, allies, escape routes, and the deliberate creation of battlefield chaos rather than brute force. 160 196
- Uses Flaming Jump and Grazing through Creeping Hunger for movement and emergency escape. 194 196
- Employs Marionettes and Historical Projections as expendable combat pieces when confronting stronger enemies. 196 672
- Will gamble with his own safety when necessary, including triggering a convergence dangerous enough to awaken the Original Creator. 672
- Remains vulnerable to higher-sequence theft, parasitism, and mental interference, particularly from Amon and Zaratul. 164 205
