The peaceful morning at Stark Villa was shattered once again, but this time it wasn't an alien invasion—it was a group of uninvited superheroes.
Captain America, Thor, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, and even Hawkeye Clint Barton were all crammed into Tony's living room.
"So," Tony looked at the roomful of people, "is this an emergency Avengers Alliance meeting? At my house? Without so much as a notice?"
Steve Rogers was as serious as ever. "Fury said it was urgent. We've detected abnormal energy fluctuations worldwide, completely matching the data from the previous Multiverse incidents."
Banner adjusted his glasses and added, "And this time, the energy signature is more... ordered. It isn't as chaotic as before. It's more like some kind of conscious control."
Xiao Han took a carton of milk from the refrigerator and glanced at the crowded room. "If anyone wants breakfast, you'll have to pay extra. Tony's budget only covers the tenants."
Suddenly, every electronic device emitted a piercing burst of static. The television switched on by itself, displaying a face covered by a metal mask. Those eyes stared through the screen at everyone in the living room.
"Avengers," the voice was low and imposing, "I am Doctor Doom."
Tony frowned. "JARVIS, get this guy off my TV."
"Unable to comply, sir. The signal source is not on our network."
Doctor Doom continued, "You believe yourselves to be protectors, heroes. But look at what you have done: timelines have been torn apart, dimensional barriers weakened, and the entire Multiverse plunged into chaos by your reckless actions."
Natasha asked calmly, "What are you trying to say, Doctor?"
"I am here to settle the score." Doctor Doom's voice was cold as ice. "For the timelines you have destroyed, for the realities erased because of your interference. Every action has consequences, and now it is time for you to bear them."
Thor raised his hammer. "Another madman who thinks he can judge gods!"
"Judgment?" Doctor Doom gave a soft laugh. "No, Thor. This is reckoning."
The screen abruptly changed, showing a series of images: quantum traces left behind after the Battle of New York, temporal scars caused by the Age of Ultron, and even the ripples in time created when Steve returned to the past and stayed with Peggy Carter.
Steve's expression changed. "Those are..."
"Evidence of your damage to the timeline," Doctor Doom said. "Strange's spells, Stark's technology, even you, Rogers—your choice to remain in the past and spend your life with Agent Carter. Every decision tore at the fabric of reality."
Banner frowned. "But those choices were made to save..."
"Save?" Doctor Doom cut him off. "Look at the results. Because of your 'salvation,' more than a dozen realities now stand on the brink of collapse. And I will be the one to repair it all—starting by removing the source of the problem."
Suddenly, the villa's defense system activated at full capacity. JARVIS issued a warning. "Multiple high-energy targets approaching. Source cannot be identified."
Tony was already wearing his armor. "Well, looks like talking time is over."
Outside the windows, more than a dozen metallic humanoids descended from midair. Their designs were sleek and deadly, their surfaces gleaming with the sheen of non-Euclidean geometry.
"My Doom Bots," Doctor Doom explained through the screen. "Specifically designed to deal with multidimensional troublemakers like you."
The first robot smashed through the glass wall and charged straight at Steve. Captain America raised his shield to block, but the impact drove him back several steps.
"This thing's strength... isn't normal!"
Thor brought his hammer down on another robot, lightning flashing in every direction, but the robot merely swayed before advancing again. "They can absorb energy!"
Xiao Han slowly set down his carton of milk. "So this is your so-called 'reckoning'? Sending a pile of tin toys after us?"
Doctor Doom's voice rang out again. "I know of your existence, Sun's Son. But this is not your concern. This is the Avengers' retribution."
Another robot charged toward Banner, then suddenly changed direction and fired a strange beam at Xiao Han. Xiao Han did not even dodge. The beam dissipated on its own a few inches away from him.
"Useless," Doctor Doom said. "That is a Phase-Shift Beam, theoretically capable of displacing energy from any dimension."
Xiao Han raised an eyebrow. "Theoretically?"
He casually grabbed a robot, crumpled it into a ball like an aluminum can, then hurled it at another robot fighting Tony. The two metal bodies collided and exploded violently.
"Practice suggests your theory needs revision."
Doctor Doom did not seem surprised on the screen. "An interesting display. But you were never my true target."
Suddenly, all the robots changed tactics at once. They stopped attacking and began setting up some kind of device. Eight robots took up specific positions, forming a perfect circle as an ever-growing energy vortex emerged at its center.
"Dimensional Anchors," Strange's voice came from a portal that suddenly appeared. "He's fixing this location's spatial coordinates!"
The sorcerer and Wong hurried out of the portal and immediately began casting spells to counter the robots' devices.
Doctor Doom chuckled. "Too late, Sorcerer Supreme. The coordinates have already been locked."
The vortex in the middle of the living room suddenly stabilized, revealing a view of another world: a destroyed New York, strange creatures floating in the sky, and enormous metal structures in the distance piercing skyscrapers like thorns.
"This is Earth-11081," Doctor Doom explained. "A reality destroyed because of one decision by the Avengers. Now, it will become the entrance that devours your reality."
Indescribable creatures began crawling from the vortex. Their forms constantly shifted, as if they were made of pure chaos.
Tony shouted as he knocked back a robot, "Anyone got a plan?"
Strange and Wong struggled to shut down the Dimensional Anchors. "We need time! These devices have anti-magic protection!"
Xiao Han looked at the creatures crawling out of the vortex and frowned. "Those things look disgusting."
Heat Vision shot from his eyes, vaporizing several creatures that had just emerged. But more creatures poured out from the vortex.
"Useless," Doctor Doom said. "As long as the Dimensional Anchors remain, they will regenerate without end."
Steve commanded, "Avengers, protect Strange and Wong! Buy them time!"
Thor summoned lightning. "For Asgard!"
Natasha and Clint worked in perfect coordination to clear out the smaller monsters, while Banner hesitated over whether to unleash Hulk.
Xiao Han watched the chaotic battle and sighed. "I just wanted to drink my milk in peace."
He suddenly moved, so fast he was almost impossible to see. In an instant, six of the eight Dimensional Anchor devices had been dismantled and thrown into the vortex before it could close. The remaining two were temporarily spared because Strange's magical shield protected them.
Doctor Doom looked surprised for the first time. "Impossible! Those devices were designed to resist any form of..."
"Physical force?" Xiao Han interrupted, idly playing with a ninth device in his hand. "Your design is flawed."
Doctor Doom glared at him from the screen. "You do not understand what you are interfering with. These realities must be purged, or the entire Multiverse will collapse!"
"Sorry," Xiao Han said, "but I hate it when someone brings multidimensional nonsense into my tea time."
He crushed the device in his hand, then looked toward the final Dimensional Anchor. Strange and Wong had just completed their spell, and the last two devices failed simultaneously.
The vortex began flickering unstably. The otherworldly creatures let out piercing shrieks as they were dragged back into their own dimension. Moments later, the center of the living room returned to normal, leaving only wreckage and several Doom Bots still struggling.
Tony opened his faceplate, breathing heavily. "Well, that was a lot more exciting than I expected from a Monday morning."
The screen suddenly lit up again, and Doctor Doom's face reappeared. His expression was even darker. "This is only the beginning, Avengers. The reckoning will come. You cannot escape the consequences of your actions forever."
Xiao Han walked up to the screen. "Hey, metal face."
Doctor Doom looked at him.
"The next time you want to come cause trouble," Xiao Han said, "make an appointment first. Tony does maintenance on Tuesdays and doesn't like being disturbed."
He reached out and crushed the television screen, causing Doctor Doom's image to disappear.
After a moment of silence, Steve spoke. "We need to talk. He was right—our actions do have consequences."
Tony collapsed onto a damaged sofa. "Wait, are you agreeing with the guy who wants to kill us?"
"No." Steve shook his head. "But I'm saying we need to think things through more carefully. We can't solve one problem and create two new ones every time."
Strange nodded. "The dimensional barriers are more fragile than ever. Every use of massive energy, every instance of time travel, creates a chain reaction."
Banner added, "And Xiao Han's energy signature acts like a catalyst, amplifying everything."
Everyone looked at Xiao Han, who was trying to salvage an unbroken carton of eggs from the damaged refrigerator.
"What?" He noticed their stares. "I'm just a tenant, remember?"
Tony sighed. "But you're the core of this... multidimensional vacation beacon."
Suddenly, another portal opened, and Charles Xavier appeared in his iconic wheelchair. "Please forgive my intrusion," he said, "but I sensed an immense energy disturbance. And... a familiar psychic signature."
Strange frowned. "Familiar?"
Xavier's expression turned serious. "Doctor Doom's psychic signature... I sensed a familiar thought pattern. Almost like..."
His words were interrupted by a sudden alarm. JARVIS reported, "Stark Industries' satellite network has been breached. Some kind of message is being broadcast globally."
Tony activated a holographic projection, displaying a news channel. Doctor Doom's face appeared on every screen as he addressed the entire world.
"People of Earth," he said, "I am Victor von Doom. I have come to warn you of the true nature of your so-called protectors."
The footage changed, showing edited images: the destruction caused by the Battle of New York, casualties from the Ultron Incident, and even clips of internal Avengers conflicts.
"These people call themselves heroes, but their actions bring only chaos and destruction. I, however, will bring order."
Natasha's face went pale. "He's turning public opinion. Making people turn against us."
Steve clenched his fists. "We have to respond."
"No," Tony suddenly said. "He's right."
Everyone looked at him in surprise.
"Not about the part where we should be reckoned with," Tony explained quickly, "but about responsibility. We really have acted without fully considering the consequences. We dealt with immediate threats but rarely considered the long-term impact."
He pointed at the disasters displayed in the holographic projection. "Look at this. Every time we 'save' the world, we leave scars behind. And only now are we learning those scars run deeper than we imagined."
Xiao Han finally managed to make an omelet and leaned against the kitchen counter while eating it. "So what are you planning to do? Form some kind of multidimensional environmental protection association?"
Strange considered it. "Actually... that may not be a bad idea. We need a system. A way to assess the impact our actions have on the multiverse."
Xavier nodded. "I can help. Mutant Academy has equipment for monitoring abnormal energy fluctuations."
Tony looked at Steve. "Captain?"
Steve took a deep breath. "I think we need to... keep a lower profile for now. Until we find a solution, we should avoid large-scale operations."
Thor snorted. "Avoidance is not the Asgardian way!"
"This isn't avoidance," Steve said. "It's taking responsibility."
Everyone's gaze shifted to Xiao Han again. He was taking the last bite of his omelet.
"Don't look at me," he said. "I only care about two things: sunbathing and not being disturbed. As long as your new 'responsibility' doesn't interfere with those, do whatever you want."
Tony could not help laughing. "Well, at least some things never change."
Outside, Doctor Doom's broadcast continued, but the Avengers had already begun planning their next move. Sometimes, the greatest threat did not come from an external enemy, but from self-reflection within.
Meanwhile, Xiao Han had already taken his newly acquired beach chair and headed for the shore. The sunlight was perfect today, and he did not care about any multiversal crisis.
At least, not for now.
