History
Early eras
Nuwa creates the Human Race ahead of its expected time and, under Jiang Ming’s guidance, humanity receives early protection and instruction through his identity as the Grape Ancestor. The race begins weak, but gains disciples, cultivation support, and time to develop. 901
During the Witch–Demon era, humanity is still a fragile tribal civilization. Human tribes worship Witch Race members, divine beasts, or divine birds as protective totems, while survival, hunting, and food acquisition regularly cost lives. 925 935
The Witch Race’s low fertility leads to intermarriage with humans. Their descendants inherit powerful Witch bloodlines and improved comprehension, but human mothers often suffer severe damage to their bodies and origins from bearing Witch children. 925
Rise and decline on the Big Dipper
In Primordial Antiquity, the Human Race survives beneath the dominance of the Primordial Royal Clans, particularly on the Big Dipper Burial Emperor Star. Even so, humanity produces the Solar Saint Emperor and the Supreme Yin Human Emperor. 396 410
The Human Race rises fully during Desolate Antiquity, an era associated with numerous Human Great Emperors and the suppression or killing of powerful forbidden-zone beings. 410 471
By the Dharma-Ending Era, however, the Human Race again appears weak. Primordial Royal Clans awaken to find that humans now rule territory they once considered their own, and many conclude that the visible lack of Human Saints makes humanity vulnerable to conquest. 396
Myriad Races Assembly
The Myriad Races Assembly at Yaochi Sacred Land becomes a decisive test of whether humanity can resist Primordial pressure. Human factions accept the gathering despite knowing that the Primordial races intend to measure their true foundations. 396
Jiang Ming and his allies overturn those expectations. Human Race Saints defeat attacking Ancestral Kings, while hidden Great Saints, Saint Kings, and ancient experts emerge as deterrents. The Primordial races are forced to recognize that war with humanity would be ruinously costly. 412 417
Starry Sky Ancient Road era
The Human Race’s Starry Sky Ancient Road serves as a long-term selection and training system for its cultivators. It is intended to produce Great Saints after the full journey, while Quasi-Emperors and Great Emperors remain exceptionally rare. 552
The road becomes increasingly dangerous as Saint Spirits, alien races, and hostile geniuses target Human Race travelers. Jiang Ming’s intervention prevents the destruction of key passes and indirectly saves large numbers of Human Race Saints. 553 564
The return of Jiang Ming’s companions and other young Great Saints greatly strengthens humanity. At a later Myriad Races Assembly, the Human Race is no longer negotiating solely from weakness and begins discussing cooperation with other races against threats connected to the Immortal Ascension Road and the Life Forbidden Zones. 611
Great Shang and Human Dao
As ruler of Great Shang, Jiang Ming turns human expansion into a Human Dao breakthrough. Military victories, territory, Dynastic Fortune, and Human Dao Fortune support his ascension as the Human Dao Human Emperor and a Primordial Grand Dao Saint. 889
His breakthrough strengthens the innate qualities of future human births: humans are no longer described as innately frail, and their vitality and talent improve across the race. Soldiers and cultivators also benefit directly from the surge in Human Dao Fortune. 889
Great Shang subsequently absorbs territory across the Four Continents, establishes subordinate kingdoms through enfeoffed kingship, and distributes Merit to create Human Dao Saints and Merit Saints capable of protecting humanity independently. 893 897
Traits and Potential
- The Human Race has an extremely low baseline but an extraordinarily high ceiling. Its members are described as capable of rapid growth, and human experts have appeared throughout the heavens and myriad worlds. 425
- Humanoid form is considered close to the form of the Great Dao. Many divine beasts and Primordial creatures cultivate toward human form, while ancient Celestial Venerables, Great Emperors, Ancient Emperors, and Demon Emperors ultimately take humanoid forms. 46 227
- Ordinary Human Race cultivators are physically disadvantaged against Primordial Royal Clan descendants, whose bloodlines, bodies, and innate secret arts often exceed those of humans at the same combat-prohibition level. 241
- Special physiques allow exceptional humans to contend with stronger bloodlines. Examples include the Human Saint Body, Innate Void Dao Body, Immortal Fire Dao Body, Innate Sacred Body Dao Embryo, Lunar Body, and Human King Body. 440 446 593
- Human adaptability and comprehension are major racial advantages. Witch–Human descendants are noted for inheriting both powerful bloodlines and improved understanding. 925
- Cultivators remain a minority even in human cities. Great Yan, for example, has a population exceeding one billion but only five Cave-Heaven Paradises of cultivators. 533
Society and Institutions
Human Race Starry Sky Ancient Road
- The Ancient Road is built to temper and select Human Race heroes through successive city passes. 552
- The Tenth Pass is an important location for Saint Realm breakthroughs, while the Thirteenth Pass offers the Heart-Refining Platform and a Great Saint’s Dao-bone cleansing legacy. 546 552
- By the Thirtieth Pass, most encountered Human Race Saints are at least Seventh Heaven of Saint, and Seven- and Eight-Prohibitions combat power is common among the strongest travelers. 564
- Those who complete all 108 passes are generally expected to reach the Great Saint Realm. 552
Great Shang reforms
- Jiang Ming begins transitioning Great Shang away from slave society, promoting agriculture, livestock farming, steelmaking, and early industrial technology. 859
- The later empire uses enfeoffed kingship and strict law-based administration rather than directly copying modern governance models unsuited to a cultivation world. 893
- Great Shang combines cultivation with technology, including advanced weapons, storage treasures, aerial demon-hawk forces, Dragon Clan water transport, robots, formations, and large-scale mechas. 893 895
- Its expansion improves food security, property protection, legal equality, infrastructure, and opportunities for ordinary people, scholars, martial artists, and allied races. 893
Relations with Other Races
- Witch Race — Early protector and overlord of many Human Race tribes. Witch–Human intermarriage produces powerful descendants but endangers human mothers; Jiang Ming/Hou Yi develops a dual-cultivation method to improve fertility and childbirth survival. 870 925 927
- Demon Race — A major historical oppressor during the Witch–Demon era, when humans are weak enough to be attacked or enslaved by stronger demon factions. Great Shang later incorporates surrendering demon groups while destroying continued resistance. 870 935 893
- Primordial Royal Clans — Former rulers of much of the Big Dipper who view humanity as an upstart occupying their ancestral territory. Their attempts to reclaim dominance lead to the Myriad Races Assembly and repeated conflicts. 396 481
- Fire Qilin Cave and other neutral Primordial factions — Not every Primordial Imperial Clan is hostile; Fire Qilin Cave is regarded as comparatively neutral toward humans. 400
- Eternal Star Region — Its invading forces treat Big Dipper inhabitants as “natives” and biological specimens, briefly pushing Human and Primordial forces toward a shared defensive interest. 506
- Nuwa — Creator and Holy Mother of the Human Race. Humanity’s growth brings her Merit and Fortune, giving her a direct stake in its prosperity. 889 901
Notable Human Race Figures
- Jiang Ming — Defender at Yaochi, protector of the Starry Sky Ancient Road, ruler of Great Shang, and later the Human Dao Human Emperor. 412 553 889
- Gai Jiuyou — Human Race Quasi-Emperor who later becomes a Great Emperor, strengthening humanity in a new Golden Age. 640
- Solar Saint Emperor — One of the two Human Emperors who arose during Primordial Antiquity. 410
- Supreme Yin Human Emperor — The other Human Emperor named from Primordial Antiquity; his inheritance is particularly compatible with Lunar Body cultivators. 410 593
- Ye Fan — A Human Saint Body cultivator whose physique is regarded as comparable in value to an Emperor’s Son. 506
- Hou Yi — A Witch–Human descendant born to the Yi Clan; one of the era’s three foremost Witch Race talents and a protector of Human Race competitors during the Heaven-Earth Contest. 925 935
