Background

Yun Ming and Cao Dezhi were the only Shrek Seven Monsters of their generation, with Cao Dezhi serving as his captain. Their close bond persisted long after their student years, and Yun Ming knew that Cao Dezhi and Zang Xin had a son; he had even held Cao Xin as an infant. 22 49

Although Yun Ming wished to join Cao Dezhi at the Blood God Legion, he remained at Shrek Academy because he feared that Long Yeyue and Cai Yue’er would cause greater damage if left unchecked. This obligation left him frustrated and confined to managing the academy’s internal crises. 49

Conflict with Cai Yue’er

When Cai Yue’er demanded that Zang Xin apologize for killing a Shrek teacher, Yun Ming intervened to stop the clash from escalating. He recognized that she had made a serious mistake by provoking a Quasi-God and ordered her back to the Outer Court. 22

After Cai Yue’er continued demanding punishment for Zang Xin, Yun Ming confined her for ten years and removed her Outer Court responsibilities. To settle the dispute with the Tang Sect, he ultimately offered a Fifty-Thousand-Year Right Arm Soul Bone and agreed to fund the experimental process intended to raise it to one hundred thousand years. 23

Cao Xin’s Assassination Attempt

When Cao Dezhi confronted Shrek over Cai Yue’er’s attempt to assassinate Cao Xin, Yun Ming immediately believed his former captain. He and Cao Dezhi deduced that Long Yeyue had secretly enabled Cai Yue’er’s escape from confinement. 30

Unable to oppose Cao Dezhi and Zang Xin’s combined power, Yun Ming withdrew from the confrontation rather than defend Cai Yue’er or Long Yeyue. 30

Recruitment of Cao Xin

Following the deaths of several Shrek-affiliated figures, Yun Ming sought to put past hostilities aside and invited Cao Xin to join Shrek Academy. Zang Xin argued that Cao Xin fit Shrek’s motto of refusing to fear trouble “exquisitely well.” 70

Yun Ming attempted to take Cao Xin as a disciple, but Cao Xin refused because he had already found his own path. Their subsequent spar ended in a draw, forcing Yun Ming to acknowledge Cao Xin as an unprecedented talent. 71

Transfer of Sea God Pavilion

After Cao Xin agreed to help protect Shrek in the future, Yun Ming appointed the eleven-year-old as temporary acting Master of the Sea God Pavilion. He instructed Cao Xin to consult Zhuo Shi on important matters before immediately leaving Shrek to pursue battle and assist Cao Xin’s godfather. 72
