On Friday evening, Roy knocked punctually on the door to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, as he had agreed with Elias.
At a lazy "Come in," Roy pushed open the door and walked inside.
Elias was bent over his desk, wearing reading glasses as he carefully graded the fifth-years' Defense Against the Dark Arts essays. Recently, Defense Against the Dark Arts classes for every year had shifted entirely to theoretical study, greatly increasing Elias's workload of marking assignments.
When he saw Roy enter, Elias smiled, set aside his work, and removed his glasses, placing them in a drawer.
"Good evening, Roy. How has your Patronus Charm practice been going lately?"
At the mention of the Patronus Charm, Roy sighed dejectedly and drew his wand, pointing it at the empty air beside him.
"Expecto Patronum."
An enormous mass of incredibly dense silvery-white mist burst from the tip of Roy's wand, instantly filling the entire office. The smoke, infused with pure magic, slowly sank, making the office floor look as though it had been covered in dry-ice effects.
Roy dropped into the seat across from Elias, shook his head, and spoke helplessly.
"I've practiced for over two weeks, but I still don't know why it's only smoke. There's no Patronus."
Since first coming into contact with magic, this was the first time Roy had encountered such difficulty learning a spell. He could not help wondering whether there was something wrong with magic itself.
"Professor, do you think my Patronus could be some magical creature that likes to blow smoke?"
Elias was amused by that and played along.
"For example?"
"For example... uh... a Haki Bee."
"A Haki Bee? What kind of magical creature is that?"
