Background / History

Roy grew up at Wool’s Orphanage in London, where he became the informal leader of many younger children. He scavenged abandoned sites for machinery, repaired discarded objects, and built improvised gadgets from salvaged parts. Though he acted dismissive toward the other orphans, he protected Kyle and Jack during a factory raid and secretly healed Kyle’s injured leg. 1

He retains memories of a previous life as a military medic, special-operations agent, and fighter pilot associated with GTI, Azshara, Havoc, and wartime combat. Those memories leave him distrustful of war, uncertain about justice, and burdened by grief for comrades, a wife, and a daughter he lost. 1 2 8 108

An old military doctor helped him escape a directionless life on the streets in his previous incarnation, teaching him skills before he was recruited by GTI. Roy later regards keeping the orphanage children in school and away from gangs as one of the most meaningful accomplishments of either life. 1 10 82

Dumbledore personally recruited Roy for Hogwarts after identifying his uncontrolled magic. Roy initially threatened him with a dagger, believing Rose had been drugged and that he might be targeted for exploitation, but accepted once he learned Hogwarts would provide housing, food, supplies, and financial support. 2

Before school, Roy rapidly taught himself first-year spellwork, alchemy, Apparition theory, and forbidden Dark-magic theory. He avoided openly testing the most unethical material, but retained the books for research. He also spent much of his savings buying supplies and pocket money for the children at Wool’s Orphanage before departing for Hogwarts. 5 9 10

At Hogwarts, Roy chose Hufflepuff rather than Gryffindor because he wanted to remain with Cedric Diggory and uphold his oath not to let others be left behind. The Sorting Hat’s attempt to tempt him with Gryffindor’s inheritance ended with the Sword of Gryffindor falling onto his head. 14 15

During his first year, Roy became a public figure through his inventions, his victory over Aisling, and the American incident involving the kidnapping of Aisling Grindelhill. He killed numerous hostile wizards while escaping the United States, fought his former mentor Elias Thorn, and was believed dead after their final exchange before ultimately recovering. The experience left him with recurring nightmares, anger, hallucinations, and traces of mental corruption from Dark Magic and Ancient Magic. 114 120 128 133 138

Afterward, Roy received Order of Merlin recognition and compensation, began a student internship at St. Mungo’s, and increasingly focused on creating a stable home and treatment plan for Mia after she became an Obscurial. Dumbledore gave him the key to the abandoned Dumbledore family home on the Fertile Soil Plain, which Roy intends to rebuild as a permanent residence for them. 138 143 160 172

Mia’s Obscurus outbreak also led to Roy’s arrest and displacement. After his release, he learned that Ministry officials had erased the orphanage children’s memories of both him and Mia, preventing him from returning to his former home. Aisling arranged assistance with his release and offered him shelter at her Austrian residence. 148 153

During his second year, Roy’s investigation into Mia’s attackers increasingly centered on Gringotts. He subsequently planned and participated in Operation Wallbreaker with Aisling and other allies, while continuing intensive potion studies aimed at saving Mia. He later acquired a teaching role at Hogwarts despite remaining a second-year student. 288 290 291 302 314 322 334 337

Appearance

Roy is a short, blond-haired boy frequently associated with green clothing and improvised field gear. His outwardly harmless or comical presentation often clashes with his combat instincts and magical power.

  • Usually wears green trousers and a green jacket. 2 6
  • Carries a handmade chest rig, backpack, waist pouch, wand, and dagger. 2 6 7
  • Has blond hair, which Tonks repeatedly ruffles while teasing him. 32 38
  • Is variously described as handsome, awkward-looking, and possessing a deliberately unserious expression. 1 2
  • Typically favors an olive-green combat uniform; when he uses Transfiguration or proper formal robes, his muscular build and appearance are considered markedly more striking. 179 180
  • Has an unusually resilient physique, surviving a high-speed broom fall, recovering from severe combat injuries, and rapidly healing broken bones with his innate magic. 45 193
  • Temporarily lost an ear during an attack at King’s Cross, but later healed the injury completely. 81
  • Retained numerous fading scars after the American conflict, including two larger marks he attributed to forcibly Apparating with another person. 131
  • Carries exceptionally large quantities of books, salvaged materials, and inventions; at the end of his first year, his luggage included three large trunks and an expanded sixty-slot red backpack. 140

Personality

Roy is resourceful, practical, and intensely curious. He approaches magical society as unexplored territory full of knowledge, useful materials, and potential inventions. His collecting habit extends from scrap machinery and magical artifacts to books, potion ingredients, and ideas for large projects. 1 9 20 49

He is protective toward children and friends, particularly the orphans from Wool’s Orphanage. He gives away food, treats Mia’s illness, promises to write home, and spends his savings helping the other children prepare for school. 1 2 8 10

Roy’s humor is teasing, boastful, and frequently ill-timed. His mockery of Aisling begins a prolonged conflict, while his arguments with Snape and public taunting of Slytherin repeatedly escalate tensions. 12 34 41 45

Beneath the playful persona, Roy is suspicious, calculating, and capable of severe violence. He uses ambush tactics, Dark magic, memory alteration, and intimidation against opponents he considers dangerous or cruel. His stated creed is: help those who deserve help, save those who deserve saving, and kill those who deserve killing. 7 32 34

Roy’s loyalty is central to his self-image. He repeatedly risks himself to protect companions, most notably distracting an overwhelming enemy force so Aisling can escape and refusing Elias’s demand that he kill Cedric to save himself. 117 119

His battle in America exposed a darker side to that resolve. The mass killing of his enemies and extensive use of Dark Magic caused guilt, nightmares, anger, and a black trace within his Ancient Magic. Though Dumbledore considers the corruption mild and fading, Roy remains afraid of losing his identity or becoming emotionally numb. 133 134 138

Following later attacks on Mia and his clash with Tiago, Roy becomes substantially more serious about magical training. Rather than studying magic as a hobby, he begins making comprehensive plans for combat, survival, revenge, and protecting those dependent on him. 207 211

His irreverence also protects a vulnerable sense of pride. Aisling recognizes that part of his carefree behavior is a defense against prejudice toward his orphaned background, and that accepting help for Mia can leave him grateful but ashamed of his own helplessness. 255

Roy is capable of sustained generosity and constructive leadership despite his violent instincts. He finds meaning in supporting the children’s education, including Harry in their celebrations, and tutoring students whose confidence has collapsed before examinations. These activities also help him move beyond his own traumatic memories. 82 93 135

He nevertheless tends to shoulder danger alone. While preparing Operation Wallbreaker, Dumbledore challenges this habit, explaining that genuine leadership requires a team and responsibility for the risks and sacrifices its members undertake. Roy acknowledges the lesson but admits that he is accustomed to operating solo. 310

Abilities & Skills

Ancient Magic

Roy possesses an exceptionally rare form of Ancient Magic that amplifies his magical output and allows unusual compatibility with magical tools.

  • Can use wands with vastly different temperaments without difficulty. 4
  • Strengthens spell power and potion effects. 26
  • Allows accelerated potion brewing through direct perception of magical changes. 25 26
  • Enables advanced wandless and nonverbal magic, including most first-year spells and a highly refined Summoning Charm. 5 43
  • Carries a major risk: excessive Ancient Magic can erode the wielder’s emotions. 38
  • Can enter Ancient Magic Resonance, temporarily enhancing his body and magic at the cost of exhaustion and increased emotional risk. 59
  • Can suppress an Obscurus and refine dispersed Obscurus matter into white magic crystals. 169 198
  • Intensified dramatically after the mass killing in America, though that growth also contributed to his psychological instability. 115 133
  • Was further strengthened by a Thunderbird’s lightning-based blessing. 111
  • After the American massacre, the quality and quantity of his magic reached three or four times their level immediately after the Thunderbird’s blessing; the resulting reserves also allowed an unusually rapid recharge of his exoskeleton. 115 117

Smoke Magic

Roy can create thick smoke without conventional preparation.

  • Used it to disorient factory guards and rescue Kyle and Jack. 1
  • Uses it as cover for ambushes and escape in Knockturn Alley. 7
  • Can employ it without a wand. 2
  • Employs dense mist tactically to conceal movement, escape pursuers, and divide enemy formations. 115 117

Healing Magic

Roy can produce green healing magic that does not appear tied to a conventional spell category.

  • Heals injuries and eases pain, as shown when treating Kyle’s scraped leg. 1
  • Completely removes Thorn’s immediate pain after Roy’s spell injures him. 30
  • Also reduces Thorn’s lingering injuries from Dark magic. 30
  • Can heal severe injuries, including his own broken ribs, Fiendfyre burns, and major battlefield wounds, though self-healing can be intensely painful and is limited by his magical reserves. 108 117 193
  • His healing power has grown to the point that he can rapidly save most nonfatal casualties. 193
  • His innate physical healing cannot directly repair mental damage such as Frank and Alice Longbottom’s condition; their treatment involves additional methods associated with Dumbledore and Ancient Magic research. 95 144
  • Heals Lupin’s injuries after the Gringotts infiltration incident, resorting to direct healing spells because his Medical Gun is no longer in his possession. 260

Transfiguration and Alchemy

Roy combines Transfiguration, alchemy, and rune-like design work to create unusually sophisticated magical objects.

  • Performed Permanent Transfiguration on a matchstick, producing an engraved golden needle. 23 24
  • Creates enchanted accessories that glow, return to the owner, release smoke, or produce small flames. 10 11
  • Animated playing cards with miniature Dumbledore and McGonagall figures. 21
  • Plans the Mendelbrick Project, an alchemical encyclopedia intended to scan, record, categorize, and organize magical knowledge. 20
  • Created and commercialized Wizard Auto Chess, a card-and-board game with animated figures, upgrade mechanics, character synergies, customizable boards, and collectible skins. 58 71
  • Designed Rocket, an animated Hufflepuff badger mascot that combines Transfiguration, smoke drones, projected images, colored laser effects, and smoke grenades. 76
  • Created the Exoskeleton Armor, a magical circulation-based combat frame powered by stored Ancient Magic. 59 92
  • Developed enchanted Communication Notebooks that transmit short written messages across Hogwarts-range distances. 91
  • Studies advanced Human Transfiguration and Animagus principles during his hospital recovery, using books supplied by McGonagall. 128
  • Transfigures his casual clothing into a formal suit at Aisling’s banquet. 179
  • Develops a Phasing device that permits passage through walls up to three meters thick, later incorporating it into his Gringotts escape tactics. 322

Potions

Roy has exceptional theoretical and practical potion-making ability, aided by his medical experience and magical perception.

  • Answers Snape’s ingredient and brewing questions in unusual detail. 24
  • Brews a flawless Cure for Boils ahead of schedule by sensing the potion’s magical state. 25
  • Can multitask with several ingredients at once. 25
  • Studies potion theory independently but lacks the money to freely purchase ingredients for practice. 49
  • Uses Ancient Magic to accelerate plant cultivation and successfully brews Polyjuice Potion and Veritaserum within a week; he also begins brewing Felix Felicis. 51
  • Produces Calming Draughts of professional quality, enhanced by Ancient Magic and tailored to the drinker’s preferences. 54
  • Uses Polyjuice Potion for identity swaps and battlefield deception. 113 114
  • Progresses much faster than Aisling when both brew an advanced potion under Snape’s supervision, despite using identical ingredients and procedures. 273
  • Receives increasingly frequent one-on-one instruction from Snape after Mia’s second Obscurus eruption, advancing his Ritual Potion into its second heating stage. 291
  • Brews counter-curse potions and nearly completes the potion required for the Patronus Charm during the Christmas holiday. This progress does not itself establish that he has achieved a corporeal Patronus. 334
  • Designs a voice-changing potion and develops it with Snape. Their first human tests alter Snape’s voice into a clear female voice and Roy’s into an aged, resonant voice resembling Dumbledore’s. 334

Combat and Tactics

Roy relies on prior-life combat experience, unconventional methods, and overwhelming magical power.

  • Favors a dagger in close quarters and regards it as more reliable than a wand in dangerous environments. 2 7
  • Uses smoke, stealth, dead ends, disarming, and ambushes against hostile wizards. 7
  • Casts powerful defensive barriers and can reflect hostile spells. 32
  • Uses wandless Dark magic in combat. 32
  • Created the Duel Cage, an ancient enclosed arena that disrupts magical circulation. 47 48
  • Is talented but still outmatched by Elias Thorn’s experience and refined Auror combat training. 47 48
  • Uses underage short-range Apparition for mobility, evasive maneuvers, and sudden close-range attacks. 57 120
  • Learns the Unforgivable Curses, including Imperio and an unusually powerful chained Avada Kedavra. 88 114
  • Uses Legilimency to obtain battlefield intelligence from defeated enemies. 114
  • Combines the Exoskeleton Armor, Gold Rose overload, lightning magic, dual-wand casting, smoke, disguises, and psychological manipulation in large-scale engagements. 114 117
  • Developed Chidori Sharp Spear, Electric Shock Arrow, and Kirin, lightning-based techniques with exceptional destructive capacity. 111 114 117
  • Can use the Phasing Charm to evade ordinary attacks by displacing his body spatially, though the technique causes severe vertigo and does not nullify broad-area attacks. 218 274
  • Developed Almighty Push and Universal Pull as force-based repulsion and attraction spells. 254
  • His close-combat abilities were challenged by the vampire Tiago, whose speed, regeneration, and time-slowing magic allowed him to match Roy even during Exoskeleton Overload. 207
  • Uses an instinctive danger awareness he calls Bee Doctor Sense, which warns him of imminent attacks and unstable magical threats. It alerts him before the attack that severs his ear and before Mia’s Obscurus eruption. 77 145
  • Refines the Phasing Charm’s casting speed and magical efficiency substantially, though its dizziness remains unresolved during the early optimization period. 218
  • Employs staged public movements, decoy valuables, and cooperative cover stories during Dumbledore’s false-diamond operation. 256
  • Plans Operation Wallbreaker around removing Tiago from London through a Hogwarts invitation and planted misinformation about breaking Voldemort’s curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts position. The same deception is intended to test Professor Jobana’s involvement with Tiago. 302
  • During the Gringotts heist, rapidly incapacitates three Goblin Guards after landing in their minecart and later combines Exoskeleton Overload with phasing through vault doors to evade pursuit. 317 322

Flying

Roy is an unusually skilled broom flyer despite initial disinterest in Quidditch.

  • Uses former-life fighter-pilot experience to rapidly master broom control. 43
  • Wins a multi-house race on an inferior Cleansweep 86 through cornering, shortcuts, and tactical risks. 44 45
  • Synchronizes with his broom to produce a burst of speed beyond its expected capability. 45
  • Survives a high-speed fall after the race without visible injury. 45
  • Plans to join the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team alongside Cedric after developing upgraded Wizard Cards equipment. 271

Mechanical and Survival Skills

Roy’s scavenging and prior-life training give him skills uncommon among Hogwarts students.

  • Repairs and sells mechanical objects, including a watch worth more than Richard initially realized. 6
  • Builds a secret base, the Special Operations Office, in the Forbidden Forest. 27 35 42
  • Uses magic for logging, construction, preservation, gardening, and material processing. 27 42
  • Picks physical locks to bypass magical anti-theft protections. 49
  • Expands his forest cabin into a concealed, warded residence with a bedroom, living room, magical gardens, and protective enchantments. 51 56
  • Creates tactical equipment including a Hormone Gun, Medical Gun, Low-Frequency Black Noise Generator, crude night-vision equipment, and silent-infiltration gear. 169 236 245
  • Uses practical lockpicking tools to enter sealed ancient dungeons when Alohomora is ineffective. 96
  • Designs spatial marks and considers using house-elves to help counter Anti-Apparition restrictions. 213 211
  • Applies scientific concepts such as mirror symmetry and chirality to spell construction after studying manuscripts possibly written by Rowena Ravenclaw. His reverse-Apparition experiment inadvertently produces the Phasing Charm. 216
  • Uses magical “Carbon-14” testing to examine the age of artifacts during his covert search of Slytherin’s collection room. 238
  • Improves his noise-suppression equipment so that its activation becomes harder to detect, while continuing to suppress breathing, footsteps, and bodily movement sounds. 298

Teaching

Roy’s academic knowledge allows him to tutor students substantially older than himself.

  • Begins by helping Tonks revise Potions, then expands his tutoring to Transfiguration, Herbology, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts as more Hufflepuffs join. 93
  • Runs evening O.W.L. lessons for fifth-years from Monday to Friday near the end of his first year. 97
  • Conducts Little Bee Roy Class, providing comprehensive examination revision for younger students as well as fifth- and seventh-years. 135
  • Considers reopening his defensive class when Hufflepuff drops to last place in the Dueling League. 273
  • Later becomes qualified to teach fellow second-years, earning enthusiastic support from Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and resentment from Ravenclaw and Slytherin. 337

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Dogwood wand — Eight inches; identified by the Ministry as containing phoenix feather and Thunderbird tail feather cores. 4 148
  • Elder Wand replica — Formerly used by Aisling; made of elder wood with Thestral tail hair and regarded by Roy as powerful but unpleasant in temperament. 4 27
  • Black Eagle Dagger — Roy’s favored close-quarters blade; badly scratched during his duel with Tiago but retained afterward. 207 208
  • Waist pouch — Successfully expanded with the Undetectable Extension Charm. 48
  • Ancient Magic book — Given by Dumbledore; records Ancient Magic techniques, the vault beneath Hogwarts, and the vanished fifth-year’s history. 37 38
  • Forbidden Dark-magic books — Acquired in Knockturn Alley; retained for research despite Roy’s disgust at their contents. 7 9
  • Cleansweep 86 — Old broom used to win the Hogwarts flying race. 43 44 45
  • Gold-trimmed fountain pen — Gift from Professor Thorn, accompanied by encouragement to study hard. 49
  • Exoskeleton Armor — Ancient Magic-powered combat armor that improves physical and magical performance. It includes a skull mask and the Gold Rose overload mechanism. 92
  • Golden Rose — A chargeable Ancient Magic reservoir. Crushing a fully charged rose activates Exoskeleton Overload, multiplying Roy’s speed, strength, reactions, and magic for a limited time. 92
  • Communication Notebooks — Enchanted notebooks that distribute short written messages between linked users over limited distances. 91
  • Ministry raven — Elias’s former Ministry-issued raven, given to Roy so he can communicate with Wool’s Orphanage. 54
  • Tom — A blue British Shorthair cat purchased by Roy in Diagon Alley. 81
  • Low-Frequency Black Noise Generator and night-vision gear — Homemade infiltration equipment that suppresses footstep and movement sounds, though its activation noise can be detectable to sensitive listeners. 236
  • Order of Merlin medal and Elias’s pendant — Rewards and inheritance received after Roy’s return from America. 138
  • Hufflepuff Pendant — An item in Roy’s backpack that appears connected to the Thunderbird’s interest in him. 111
  • Mysterious gold key — A key recovered from Mia’s attackers and later discovered to be magically disguised; Roy believes it corresponds to an important hidden vault or location. 287
  • Expanded red backpack — A sixty-slot backpack enlarged with an Undetectable Extension Charm, used to transport his books, supplies, and inventions. 109 140
  • Repaired and spare wands — Ollivander replaces a damaged wand core and also allows Roy to retain a temporarily borrowed wand, believing another wizard may be unable to tame it after Roy’s use. 142
  • Hormone Gun / Medical Gun — Homemade medical equipment used to treat injuries. Roy later gives Aisling a Medical Gun in gratitude for helping secure ingredients for Mia’s treatment; she uses it to heal a cut during potion preparation. 208 255 273
  • Glass diamond decoy — A convincing imitation supplied by Dumbledore for a staged Gringotts deposit intended to misdirect their enemies. 256

  • Phasing device — Operational equipment capable of letting Roy pass through walls up to three meters thick, including Gringotts vault doors. 322
  • Voice-changing potion — Co-developed with Snape; changes Roy’s voice to resemble Dumbledore’s during its first test. 334

Relationships

  • Albus Dumbledore — Recruiter, guardian figure, and source of guidance on Ancient Magic. Dumbledore sees parallels between Roy, Tom Riddle, and his younger self, but considers Roy more compassionate. He later gives Roy a family home, monitors his Dark-Magic corruption, and authorizes him to assist in searching for Voldemort’s hidden artifacts under supervision. 2 4 37 38 138 160 246 He also organizes a decoy operation with Roy and Lupin, restrains Roy’s anger after the Gringotts incident, and teaches him that leadership requires accepting responsibility for his team’s risks. 256 260 310
  • Cedric Diggory — Closest friend and “brother.” Roy chose Hufflepuff to remain with Cedric, while Cedric often serves as his social and moral adviser. Cedric repeatedly supports Roy, including volunteering to duel beside him against Aisling and Elliott and covering for him while he investigates Mia’s attackers. 14 15 32 64 287 Roy also teases him about his crush on Cho Chang, encourages him to join Quidditch, and offers to help obtain her contact information. Cedric later prepares for the Christmas operation alongside Roy’s group. 201 228 314
  • Fred and George Weasley — Mischievous friends and companions in Diagon Alley. They followed Roy into Knockturn Alley to help him, then became frequent partners in teasing, inventions, Wizard Auto Chess production, and troublemaking. Their companionship also helps ground Roy after his American trauma. 7 8 15 71 133 134 They enthusiastically celebrate his later teaching appointment by climbing onto their desks to applaud. 337
  • Mia — Younger orphan Roy treats protectively, partly because she reminds him of his lost daughter. He treats her illness, promises to write, and worries about her health after leaving. After she becomes an Obscurial, Roy makes her safety, treatment, and future home central priorities. 2 8 49 146 160 172 Her second Obscurus eruption drives him into near-daily potion tutoring with Snape, and work on her lifesaving potion continues during the Christmas holiday. 291 334
  • Aisling Grindelhill / Grindelwald — Initially Roy’s rival and source of recurring conflict. Their hostility gradually softens into reconciliation, private cooperation, and mutual trust; she assists his Ancient Magic Vault plan, helps him survive in America, and later supports his investigation into Mia’s attackers. Despite this, they retain an abrasive, competitive dynamic. 12 32 33 39 96 108 287 Their post-America reunion includes an affectionate hug, and she later helps secure his release from Ministry custody and offers him shelter. She obtains scarce ingredients needed for Mia’s treatment, receiving a Medical Gun from Roy in gratitude. They become close collaborators in Operation Wallbreaker, and Roy reassures her when she admits her anxiety on Christmas Eve. 140 153 255 302 314
  • Elias Thorn — Former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and private mentor. Thorn taught Roy advanced combat magic, Apparition, Extension Charm work, and the Unforgivable Curses, but was later revealed as the architect of Connor’s attack and an antagonist in the American conflict. Roy and Elias appeared to kill one another in their final duel, though Roy later learns that Elias survived the immediate exchange; Elias nevertheless left Roy a pendant in his will. 30 34 47 48 88 120 123 138
  • Severus Snape — Hostile Potions professor who repeatedly attempts to expose or discipline Roy, only to be frustrated by his potion knowledge. 24 25 36 41 Their relationship later develops into a demanding instructional partnership: Snape supervises advanced brewing, provides near-daily individual tutoring after Mia’s second eruption, and collaborates with Roy on Mia’s lifesaving potion and a successful voice-changing potion. 273 291 334
  • Pomona Sprout — Supportive Head of Hufflepuff who recognizes Roy’s potential and condemns the prejudice directed at him. 18 35 36
  • Minerva McGonagall — Strict mentor who recognizes Roy’s Transfiguration talent but warns him against reckless overexertion and unsupervised advanced magic. She later helps care for him during his St. Mungo’s recovery and supports his academic development. 23 24 128
  • Kyle and Jack — Younger Wool’s Orphanage children who idolize Roy as “Bee Bro.” He leads them on scavenging trips and rescues them when they are caught. 1
  • Richard — Recycling-shop owner who buys Roy’s repaired goods and encourages him to pursue school rather than remain trapped in poverty. 6
  • Bill Weasley — Older Gryffindor ally who defends Roy against Elliott Blackwood and warns him that Slytherin’s hostility remains active. He later assists with Roy’s potion sales and helps manage the twins when Roy is occupied. 34 35 40 53 92
  • Sophia — Director of St. Mungo’s who is impressed by Roy’s medical knowledge and gives him broad-access student-intern credentials, viewing him as a potential future successor. 143
  • Madam Poppy Pomfrey — Supports Roy’s St. Mungo’s internship and recognizes his practical healing aptitude while cautioning against overexertion. 143
  • Thunderbird — A benevolent magical creature that heals Roy, restores his magic, grants him lightning-based power, and later assists him in battle. Its favor appears tied to Roy’s Ancient Magic and Hufflepuff Pendant. 111 117
  • Tiago Brando — A vampire adversary known initially as Fly Head. His close-combat ability, regeneration, and time-slowing magic allow him to match Roy’s overloaded exoskeleton; he remains an unresolved threat after accusing Roy of taking something that belongs to him. 207 208 Roy later identifies him as Operation Wallbreaker’s greatest obstacle and describes his oppressive presence as second only to Dumbledore’s. His proposed countermeasure is to lure Tiago to Hogwarts with false intelligence and a curse-breaking request rather than confront him directly in London. 302
  • Pheobe Delacour — Aisling’s French childhood friend and a Veela-like witch whose beauty enchantment does not affect Roy. Their handshake triggers an uncontrolled electrical discharge that incapacitates her, beginning a mutually hostile first impression. 180
  • Harry Potter — A younger boy Roy meets through Mia and recognizes by his name and lightning-shaped scar. Roy is disturbed by his neglect at the Dursleys’ home, includes him in the orphanage’s Christmas shopping trip, and secretly gives him additional money. Harry later helps investigate Mia’s movements after Roy promises to protect Hermione’s secret involvement with the magical world. 80 81 82 85 288
  • Remus Lupin — An ally assigned by Dumbledore to covertly protect Roy during the false-diamond operation. Roy discreetly feeds him while maintaining their public cover story and later heals him after he is captured and injured by conspirators within Gringotts. Lupin restrains Roy from reckless retaliation and shares a clue about the Marauder’s Map and its creators. 256 260
  • Nymphadora Tonks — An older Hufflepuff friend who frequently teases Roy and ruffles his hair. Her difficulties with Potions revision prompt him to begin the tutoring sessions that become Little Bee Roy Class. She later trains with Aisling and Cedric in preparation for the Christmas operation. 32 38 93 314
  • Frank and Alice Longbottom — Patients whose Cruciatus-induced damage Roy attempts to treat. Their improvement after his visits draws Madam Longbottom’s attention, while their continuing needs motivate his Ancient Magic research and medical-equipment ideas. 95 144 169
  • Professor Jobana — A Hogwarts professor linked to Tiago through a teacher–student relationship. She accepts Roy’s Dumbledore-authorized leave request and sends gifts for Mia, but Roy later remains uncertain about her loyalties and plans to use planted intelligence to test her involvement in Tiago’s schemes. 256 302
  • Tom, proprietor of the Leaky Cauldron — A friendly acquaintance who worries about Roy’s injuries, offers him a meal, and enjoys the card tricks Roy performs to fulfill an earlier promise. 81

Story Role / Major Arcs

Orphanage and Hogwarts Recruitment

Roy is introduced as a scavenging orphan with unexplained smoke and healing powers. Dumbledore recruits him personally after recognizing his unusual ability and the resemblance of his circumstances to Tom Riddle’s. 1 2 4

Diagon Alley and Early Friendships

Roy enters wizarding society, gains two wands, befriends Cedric and the Weasley twins, explores Knockturn Alley, and acquires dangerous books and magical materials. 3 4 7 9

Hufflepuff Student and Inventor

After choosing Hufflepuff, Roy becomes a conspicuously gifted student in Transfiguration, Potions, alchemy, and magical engineering. He establishes the Mendelbrick and Auto Chess projects while building friendships among Hufflepuff and Gryffindor students. 14 20 21 23 25

Conflict with Slytherin

Roy’s conflict with Aisling develops into broader hostility with Slytherin’s blood-purity-minded students. After Ronan Voss and Avery Selwyn ambush him, Roy defeats them brutally, alters their memories, and becomes a divisive figure within Hogwarts. 32 33 34 36

The wider conflict eventually subsides. By his second year, most Slytherins avoid provoking him, and his rescue of Aisling from America has further reduced the earlier hostility, though relations remain far from uniformly friendly. 236

Ancient Magic Investigation

Roy investigates the founders’ Ancient Magic Vault and the erased history of a fifth-year student who once wielded its power. Dumbledore gives him a book documenting the vault’s location, trials, and emotional cost. 28 37 38

Roy later enters the sealed underground Legacy Chamber, discovers the magical mercury chamber and Ancient Magic sphere, and learns that he may borrow a limited amount of vault power if another person supervises the process. He asks Aisling to help him attempt this dangerous “electricity theft.” 96

His interest in borrowing rather than fully inheriting the vault’s power is partly medical: he considers storing a limited quantity in his Golden Rose to help treat Neville’s parents without exposing himself to nearly limitless Ancient Magic and its emotional dangers. 95

Special Operations Office

Roy secretly establishes a forest clearing as the Special Operations Office, constructing a tent, workbench, foundation, and eventually a partially completed cabin. He intends it as a private headquarters for research, construction, and future projects. 27 35 42

The base later becomes a concealed forest manor with wards, magical gardens, furnishings, and a practical Apparition-training ground. Dumbledore eventually discovers it and temporarily bans Roy from entering the Forbidden Forest amid escalating threats. 51 56 91

After the Gringotts infiltration incident, Roy brings Lupin to the base and introduces him to Cedric, Connor, Gabriel, and the Weasley twins, using it as a gathering place for his circle of allies. 260

Flying Race and Auror Training

Roy wins a public broom race despite using an outdated Cleansweep 86, further raising his profile at Hogwarts. He later begins private training with Thorn, who tests his knowledge, dueling ability, Duel Cage, and Extension Charm use. 43 44 45 47 48

Auto Chess and Hufflepuff Ascendance

Roy completes Wizard Auto Chess and turns it into a popular Hogwarts game. With Dumbledore’s support, he commercializes the game through affordable school sets, premium Zonko’s editions, collectible skins, and a student-run production process that employs Cedric, the twins, Gabriel, and other friends. 58 71

His victory over Aisling inspires an intense Hufflepuff–Slytherin rivalry, improving both Houses’ academic competitiveness and changing Hufflepuff’s reputation for complacency. 66 71

Near the end of his first year, Roy further supports Hufflepuff by tutoring older students across several subjects. What begins as Potions help for Tonks becomes regular O.W.L. preparation and broader examination revision under the name Little Bee Roy Class. 93 97 135

American Kidnapping and Battle Royale

Roy and Aisling secretly cooperate to expose the force targeting her, but are drawn into a dangerous pursuit across America. Roy uses disguises, Polyjuice Potion, lightning magic, the Exoskeleton Armor, and chained Killing Curses to protect Aisling and defeat large numbers of hostile wizards. 97 113 114 117

A Thunderbird heals and empowers Roy during the conflict, allowing him to develop lightning-based abilities and unleash Kirin. Roy ultimately confronts Elias Thorn, who reveals his responsibility for Connor’s attack and attempts to force Roy to betray Cedric. 111 117 119 120

Death, Recovery, and Corruption

Roy and Elias apparently kill each other in their final Duel Cage confrontation, but Roy later survives and receives prolonged treatment at St. Mungo’s. His recovery is complicated by nightmares, guilt, hallucinations, and mild mental corruption linked to excessive Dark Magic and Ancient Magic. 120 128 133 138

Before his hospital treatment, Roy learns from Aisling that Elias also survived the immediate exchange, contradicting Roy’s initial belief that his Chidori Sharp Spear had killed him outright. 123

Dumbledore rewards Roy with Order of Merlin recognition, gold, and Elias’s pendant while warning him to rest and report any worsening symptoms. 138

McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout support his hospital recovery with regular visits, books, toys, and plants, avoiding demands that he relive the American ordeal. His later tutoring provides another constructive way to occupy himself and distance his thoughts from battlefield memories. 128 135

Healer, Guardian, and Homebuilder

After returning to Britain, Roy becomes a St. Mungo’s student intern and applies his medical knowledge to magical exhaustion and spell damage. He increasingly defines his future around protecting Mia, whose Obscurial condition makes stable housing and specialized treatment urgent. 143 160

Dumbledore gives Roy the abandoned Dumbledore ancestral home for himself and Mia. Roy begins funding its reconstruction with Wizard Cards profits while maintaining a magical tent as an emergency residence. 160 172

This new home follows the loss of his previous place at Wool’s Orphanage: Ministry Memory Charms erase the children’s recollections of Roy and Mia after the Obscurus incident. Aisling offers temporary shelter, while Roy concentrates on seeing Mia and Harry and rebuilding a secure life. 153

Public Recognition and Renewed Conflict

Roy is formally inducted into the Order of Merlin as its youngest member, though his award ceremony is disrupted by his mud-covered entrance with Cedric, Fred, and George. During the press conference, he publicly declares war on Fly Head and the attackers responsible for the King’s Cross assault. 226 227 229

During the ceremony, his existing Second Class Order of Merlin is upgraded to First Class by unanimous decision. The recognition follows an embarrassing Sorting Hat song about his exploits, turning the evening from public humiliation into a major celebration of his bravery. 228

After Fly Head, later identified as Tiago, challenges him in an alley, Roy recognizes that his existing strength is insufficient against the new threat. Mia’s subsequent targeting drives him to begin a systematic program of magical, technological, and tactical self-improvement. 207 211 287

His spatial research produces an unexpected breakthrough when a failed reverse-Apparition experiment allows a corrosive potion mixture to pass through him unharmed. He develops the effect into the Phasing Charm and begins addressing its casting, consumption, and dizziness problems. 216 218

Voldemort Artifacts and the Room of Requirement

Roy helps identify a cursed trophy as magic resembling Horcrux creation and receives Dumbledore’s authorization to use Jobana’s device to search for Voldemort’s hidden objects, provided he reports all dangerous discoveries. 246

While researching a solution to his Phasing Charm’s side effects, Roy learns from the house-elves that the Room of Requirement contains a vast accumulation of Dark magical artifacts and may be the ancient Dark Lord’s former Hogwarts base. 275 276

An earlier covert search of Slytherin’s collection room involves night-vision equipment and magical age testing, but yields no relevant artifact. Aisling mistakes him for an intruder and pursues him through Hogwarts until Dumbledore intervenes and she exposes his identity. 238

Gringotts Conspiracy and Operation Wallbreaker

Roy takes part in Dumbledore’s decoy-diamond operation, publicly carrying a small iron box and staging a casual meeting with Lupin at the Three Broomsticks. Lupin’s subsequent capture reveals that Gringotts has been infiltrated from within, including a plot to alter his memories. Roy heals him but must be restrained from immediately attacking the bank. 256 260

When investigating Mia’s later movements, Roy questions Harry and Ollivander, establishing that she visited Gringotts before collecting a toy wand. Seeing Wolf and other Wizard Purist Party members leave the bank after an angry confrontation reinforces his suspicion that Gringotts is central to the mystery. 288

The investigation leads into his declared Wallbreaker role and planning with Aisling. Roy identifies Tiago as the principal external threat and proposes luring him to Hogwarts during Christmas with a staged request to remove Voldemort’s curse from the Defense Against the Dark Arts position. Planted misinformation through Jobana is also meant to reveal how closely she is involved with her teacher. 290 302

Roy, Aisling, Cedric, and Tonks prepare at Grindelwald Castle. Dumbledore’s guidance forces Roy to confront the responsibilities of leading companions rather than taking every risk alone. On Christmas Eve, Roy reassures Aisling during a fishing trip, shares a festive meal with the group, and then travels by Portkey to Diagon Alley carrying explosives and wearing a mask. 310 314

During the Gringotts heist, Roy boards a staff minecart and incapacitates its three Goblin Guards. Later, with the planned document handover outside his vault still in mind, he uses Exoskeleton Overload to run through the cliffside passages, while his Phasing device allows him to pass through thick vault doors and hide in private vaults. 317 322

Advanced Potions and Teaching Appointment

Mia’s second Obscurus eruption intensifies Roy’s potion studies. His sessions with Snape increase from three per week to nearly daily, and Ancient Magic helps his Ritual Potion progress ahead of Aisling’s. 291

After the Christmas operation, Roy continues studying and working with Snape. They advance Mia’s lifesaving potion, prepare counter-curse potions, and successfully create a voice-changing potion from Roy’s proposed design. Its first tests give Snape a female voice and Roy a voice resembling Dumbledore’s. 332 334

Roy subsequently becomes a teaching figure at Hogwarts while still a second-year. Hufflepuff and Gryffindor celebrate his appointment, whereas Ravenclaw and Slytherin resent the extent to which a peer has surpassed them. 337
