"I found it on one of the attackers. Gringotts refused to let me investigate what's inside the vault this Key opens. Look at it that way, and all I'm doing is taking back what's rightfully mine."

Dumbledore's displeasure deepened. He was clearly unhappy that Roy had decided on his own to rob a bank.

"When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?"

Roy glanced at Dumbledore and shrugged helplessly, spreading his hands as he answered.

"Right after Mia was hospitalized. Harry gave me the Key, and I took it to Gringotts the next day to investigate. Tiago came out in person and refused my request. He wouldn't let me into that vault, no matter what."

"That happened?"

Dumbledore clearly hadn't realized that Roy had been taking action while he was negotiating and wrangling with the Ministry of Magic.

"If you don't believe me, take the Key to Gringotts yourself and see whether those goblins let you into the vault. I doubt they'd dare turn the famous Dumbledore down outright. But arranging for the vault door to malfunction so the Key won't open it, then paying you compensation? That would be easy for them."
