"Surrender, intruder! Talk! Where did you come from?"
The goblin captain in charge of security that day looked utterly vicious. Unlike ordinary goblins, with their greedy faces, this fellow's fleshy scowl made it clear he was not someone to cross.
There was no way to cover up the break-in at Gringotts that day. The Ministry of Magic's Aurors had yet to arrive, and no one knew when they would, but as the commander responsible for security, he had let someone smash through Gringotts' roof and release its dragon. Such dereliction of duty left him with only one possible fate: death.
"I came from the mountains."
Roy looked around the ground-floor lobby of Gringotts, surrounded so tightly there was no way out. Dozens of magical crossbows were aimed at him, as though the slightest movement would prompt the furious goblins to turn him into a pincushion. At the sight, the masked Roy let out a despairing sigh. As if resigned to his fate, he put away the two wands in his hands and slowly raised his arms.
"Hmph—seize him."
"Miss, it looks as though your friend is ready to surrender."
"Impossible. He definitely has something else up his sleeve."
Meanwhile, Aisling and Wolf, who had witnessed Roy's entire entrance, stood upstairs, leaning over the railing and looking down with bewilderment written all over their faces.
"Should we throw down a smoke grenade?"
"Wouldn't that expose us?"
"But if your friend gets arrested, we'll both be implicated."
"Relax. He definitely has another trick up his sleeve... right?"
In truth, Aisling was not entirely sure either. At the very least, the machine sitting in the ground-floor lobby was already severely disrupting the magic of every wizard present. If she were in his place, she certainly would not know how to escape so many
