Boxing Day morning with the Weasley family

On Boxing Day in 1990, the Weasley family, reunited at The Burrow for the Christmas holidays, basked in the festive spirit.

It was early morning. With Bill returning home for the Christmas holidays from his job far away in Egypt, the Weasley family had finally gathered everyone together after a long time apart. Unfortunately, although Bill had come home, the enormous mess Roy and the others had caused had forced Mr Weasley to work overtime at the Ministry of Magic for the whole of Christmas Day and the night that followed.

The Weasley family still had no idea why Mr Weasley had been working overtime, let alone what had happened at both Gringotts and Hogwarts. All the Weasley children were sitting around the dining table, listening to Bill tell stories about his life in Egypt as they enjoyed the lavish breakfast Mrs Weasley had spent all morning preparing.

Just as Bill was vividly describing the customs of Egypt's Wizarding World, a sudden clatter came from The Burrow's living room. Bill immediately stopped talking, and everyone in the kitchen, including Mrs Weasley, who was still busy at the stove, turned toward the kitchen door. The whole family was curious about what had happened to keep Mr Weasley working at the Ministry of Magic all through Christmas Day.

Before long, the kitchen door opened. As expected, Mr Weasley had returned. Utterly exhausted, he dragged his heavy legs into the kitchen, though the sight of his lovely children eased his weariness a little. Mrs Weasley thoughtfully brought him a hearty breakfast. He accepted it happily, pulled up a chair, and sat down. Then, facing his family's questioning looks, he slowly began to explain what had happened.
