Ciri had originally been the princess of Cintra, a northern kingdom.
Her grandmother was Queen Calanthe of Cintra, known as the Lioness of Cintra.
Her biological father was Emhyr var Emreis, Emperor of Nilfgaard.
So Ciri had been a proper princess, known as the Lion Cub of Cintra, wanting for nothing since childhood.
The only problem was that she was bound by the Witcher's Law of Surprise and was supposed to be taken away by Geralt after turning six.
However, Geralt clearly had no intention of honoring the Law of Surprise.
He came to the royal palace of Cintra and met Queen Calanthe, but he did not take Ciri away. He did not even ask for Ciri's name or gender.
Thus, Ciri had continued growing up until now. She was already in her teens.
She should have grown up carefree, perhaps even succeeding Queen Calanthe and becoming the next queen of Cintra.
But just then, the southern empire of Nilfgaard launched the Northern War.
The Emperor of Nilfgaard was Ciri's biological father, yet in order to annex the North, he intended to marry his own daughter and gain legitimacy!
So the first country he invaded was Cintra. Not only did he annex Cintra, but he also caused the horrific Massacre of Cintra.
Ciri's grandmother, Queen Calanthe, the Lioness of Cintra, took her own life for her country.
And in order to obtain Ciri, the Emperor of Nilfgaard sent an elite squad to capture her and bring her back to marry him.
Ciri gave everything she had to escape from that squad.
She ran tirelessly through the forest. When she was completely exhausted, she suddenly felt her bloodline boiling.
Then...
The scenery around her became unreal. Thick fog appeared, and a portal opened before her.
Ciri had no time to think. Afraid of being discovered by her pursuers, she stepped straight inside.
Then she arrived in a rift. When she walked out of it, she saw a figure descending from the sky.
The sight of blonde, blue-eyed Kara made Ciri's eyes widen at once.
She was so beautiful, so perfect, so radiant.
Ciri felt utterly mesmerized.
Kara listened to Ciri's account.
She finally confirmed that Ciri was not from Earth.
She did not care much about that.
After all, she was not from Earth either. She was a Kryptonian.
"You mean there was a door in front of you at the time?"
"Yes."
Ciri nodded, her eyes fixed tightly on Kara, making Kara feel a little embarrassed.
Why did Ciri's gaze feel so intense?
"Can you still sense it? Or... how did you make it appear? Can you go back?"
Kara was still young and immediately lost her bearings. All she wanted was to send Ciri back.
After all, Ciri had come from another world. Kara did not seem qualified to take her in.
At the very least, her godfather should be the one dealing with this.
"Are you sending me away? Please, don't send me away."
Ciri immediately grabbed Kara's arm. Kara really wanted to pull her hand free.
Because Ciri was far too dirty right now.
Even refugees probably did not look this miserable.
But for the sake of Ciri's self-respect, Kara forced herself to endure it.
"No, that's not it. Don't you miss home?"
Kara could only say that.
"My home has already been destroyed. I can't go back..."
At those words, hatred flashed through Ciri's eyes.
The iron cavalry of Nilfgaard seemed to rise vividly before her once more.
Hearing Ciri's words, Kara suddenly felt as though she understood exactly how she felt.
She began to feel a little fond of Ciri.
If not for her godfather, she might have become a refugee like Ciri.
"Then..."
Thinking that, Kara said, "Then come with me first. To my home."
"Thank you."
Ciri had no objections.
She thought Kara was a good person, and a very powerful one.
Most importantly, Kara had said that this was no longer the world Ciri knew. That meant Kara was the only person she could communicate with!
Naturally, she had to stick closely to the only person she could speak with.
"Hold on tight."
Once Kara made up her mind, she no longer minded. She hugged Ciri.
She smelled wonderful and felt comfortable to hold, making Ciri a little embarrassed.
She was filthy all over. She had surely gotten Kara dirty.
Kara no longer felt like playing now.
With Ciri, a visitor from another world, beside her and no guiding figure around, her thoughts were in a mess.
When something happened, a daughter naturally thought of her own father first.
So she wrapped Ciri in a Biological Force Field and immediately took flight.
"Ahhhh!"
Ciri was startled as she rose directly from the ground. That was impossible in her world.
Even sorceresses could not do it.
Kara was far more powerful than any sorceress.
"Stop screaming!"
Kara could not take it anymore and could only stop, waiting for Ciri to adjust before continuing to fly.
Fortunately, Ciri was very brave and adapted quickly.
Ciri loved having fun.
During her childhood, she often traveled between Cintra and Skellige.
Skellige was an island nation overseas. She had often crossed the sea as a child, and she had even learned how to skate in Skellige.
Ciri had also once wandered into Brokilon Forest, the sacred land of the dryads, where humans were forbidden to enter.
She was not the sort to stay put.
Freedom was in her nature, and she was exceptionally daring when it came to adventure.
So she stared at the world below in shock, without blinking.
Since Kara was carrying her, she did not dare fly too high or too fast.
That allowed Ciri to clearly see what this world was like.
The moment she saw those towering buildings, she knew this was not Cintra, not Redania, and certainly not Nilfgaard.
The architectural style here was completely different from that of her world.
Now Ciri was certain that she had truly crossed into another world!
And the reason she saw so many tall buildings was that they had already arrived in Metropolis.
But they did not stop. Ciri watched Kara carry her across the ocean and straight to another landmass.
The buildings here were not as tall as those in Metropolis, and their style was strange, carrying an eerie, cult-like feel.
Yet Ciri thought the Gothic-style buildings were beautiful.
Her eyes remained wide until Kara brought her into an alley and landed.
Only when her feet touched solid ground did that dreamlike feeling fade.
Ciri truly felt that she had come to another world!
At least Nilfgaard would not hunt her down here!
Thinking of that, Ciri felt tears well up in her eyes.
"Come on, let's go to my house."
Kara said to Ciri.
Ciri nodded and hurried after Kara.
Gotham City was not safe. There were plenty of idlers, addicts, and homeless people around.
But when they saw Ciri, they all backed away.
Where had this stinking beggar come from? Was she here in Gotham to steal their turf?
Ciri was filthy from head to toe, and even her silver hair was nearly black.
Seeing the looks of disgust from the people around her, Ciri felt her young heart take a heavy blow.
After following Kara upstairs and watching her knock on a door, she hurriedly asked, "Kara, your family won't dislike me, will they?"
Seeing how frightened Ciri looked, Kara's heart softened, and she suddenly felt like an older sister.
"They won't."
The door opened. Harley Quinn stepped aside, then saw Ciri beside Kara and immediately lost it.
"Where did this ugly little girl come from?"
