In the apartment.
Ciri slowly recounted her tragic experiences.
Her childhood had actually been fairly good. Setting aside the sudden loss of both her parents, it had been wonderful.
Her grandmother had been the queen of Cintra, while she herself had been the Lion Cub of Cintra.
Unfortunately, Cintra had been too weak. Even the Northern Kingdoms combined could not compare to Nilfgaard.
When Harley Quinn heard that such a young Ciri had suffered so much and fled all the way here,
her maternal instincts immediately overflowed.
Even though Kara was acting as the "translator."
She immediately hugged Ciri. "Little Ciri, don't be afraid. Mommy will protect you."
Clearly unaccustomed to it, Ciri wriggled free from her embrace.
"Since you've come here, you're safe. We'll protect you."
Li Ang said gently.
Hearing him, Ciri visibly relaxed.
The reason he had Ciri tell them everything was because communication was an easy way to bring people closer.
Especially when they shared similar experiences.
Kara told Ciri about her own past.
When she heard that Kara's home planet had been blown up and that Kara had come to Earth alone in a spaceship, Ciri's eyes widened.
She understood every word, but when they were put together, she could no longer understand them...
Still, it made her realize that Kara shared her suffering. Both of their homes had been destroyed, forcing them to leave their homelands.
Under those circumstances, the two girls grew even closer.
Li Ang nodded in satisfaction. Now he did not have to worry about Ciri running away.
"Ciri, what had you originally planned to do?"
Li Ang asked.
"I don't know."
Ciri looked utterly lost.
With her country destroyed and her family gone, what could a little girl barely in her teens do?
Before the tide of history, any individual was merely a mantis trying to stop a chariot.
"My grandmother told me to find White Wolf Geralt."
Only then did Li Ang understand Ciri's situation. She had not met Geralt yet.
According to Ciri's original life trajectory, after Cintra fell, she would meet Geralt because of the Law of Surprise. Then she would go with Geralt to the Witchers' territory and undergo some training.
But Ciri possessed Elder Blood. She was clearly not suited to becoming a Witcher; that would instead limit her talent.
If anything, Ciri possessed the greatest talent in the world of The Witcher.
"Then stay here properly and begin a new life."
"Ciri, you need to learn our language as soon as possible."
"Kara, teach Ciri."
Li Ang assigned a task to his two goddaughters.
Kara was naturally delighted.
Ciri also nodded obediently.
Just looking at his two doll-like daughters was enough to brighten his mood.
"Okay, Godfather."
Good, good, good!
Li Ang beamed with delight.
He let them go inside and get acquainted.
After all, his two goddaughters were about the same age. They had more to talk about with each other.
"Kara, don't bully Ciri."
"I wouldn't bully her!"
Kara said unhappily. Why did her godfather see her that way?
The two closed the door and went off to chat quietly by themselves.
"She's special?"
Harley Quinn had noticed something.
"Yes, she's adorable."
Li Ang did not want Harley Quinn setting her sights on Ciri.
"You're not into little girls, are you?"
Harley Quinn immediately looked at Li Ang suspiciously.
"What are you thinking!?"
Li Ang was instantly furious and grabbed Harley Quinn, ready to teach her a lesson.
He was not some stereotypical American pervert.
Speaking of which, there was a reason Americans were into little girls.
The main reason was how quickly white girls matured.
Their golden years were from fifteen to twenty-five. Once ordinary people passed twenty-five, they could easily start to age.
On top of that, white people already tended to look older than their age.
So many girls started looking fully grown at fifteen. If one did not carefully ask their age, it was easy for problems to arise.
That was what led many people down that path.
"Ciri, this is my comic book."
Inside the room, Kara eagerly shared everything she had with Ciri.
She naturally wanted friends too.
But her identity was special, and she was more mature than people her age. She found all her classmates far too childish.
But now, Ciri had gone through something similar. Having experienced those things, Ciri seemed more mature than her peers and did not talk much.
That stirred Kara's pity.
Their shared experiences also allowed the two girls to become friends.
"I... I can't read it."
Ciri looked at the comic book. She did not recognize a single word on it.
"It's okay, just look at the pictures. This is Spider-Man!"
Kara said excitedly, "He's a superhero. He specializes in fighting villains and defending justice. Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"
"Is he stronger than you?"
Ciri immediately blinked and asked.
That made Kara immensely proud. "He's a little weaker than me."
"Oh."
Ciri's reaction satisfied Kara's vanity.
So Kara was that powerful.
After all, that was normal.
From childhood to now, Ciri had never seen anyone fly as freely as Kara.
Even though Cintra's royal family had "druids," they could only perform some miraculous spells.
For certain reasons, Cintra opposed magic and female sorcerers.
This was also why, when Cintra was invaded by Nilfgaard's flames of war, it had received no reinforcements.
The kings of the other kingdoms all patronized female sorcerers, yet Cintra did not!
Why would they possibly step in to help?
People such as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Triss of Temeria—why did their names have those prefixes?
Was it not to show which kingdom was backing them?
Although sorcerers were not that powerful individually, they had an organization that directly excluded Cintra.
Therefore, Ciri had barely seen any sorcerers growing up.
Naturally, she did not think sorcerers were stronger than Kara.
"Come look at this. This is a cellphone."
Kara showed off her things while teaching Ciri how to use them.
"A cellphone? What does it do?"
Ciri curiously looked at the palm-sized object in Kara's hand.
"It can do lots of things. You can know what's happening in the world without leaving home. Most importantly, you can use it to study."
"I really want to take you to school, but you don't know our language. It'd be easy for you to give yourself away."
Hearing Kara say that, Ciri could not help imagining her new life.
"Then if I study hard, can I go with you?"
Ciri asked.
"Definitely. Godfather will agree."
Kara immediately promised.
She seemed to have forgotten that her own enrollment had been a "charity project" by Wayne Enterprises.
In Kara's subconscious, her godfather was omnipotent.
After all, Li Ang had worked hard to fulfill every promise he made to Kara.
To Kara, Li Ang was a towering, dependable godfather!
Feeling Kara's admiration, Ciri was influenced as well.
She also began to feel a sense of acceptance toward this godfather.
"Then let's hurry and study. Once I learn the language, we'll go tell Godfather!"
Ciri said enthusiastically. This world was incredibly wonderful, and she wanted to stay here.
Such a beautiful house, such a comfortable bed, such novel high technology...
This world was too wonderful!
