Background / History

Tang Mingxi is Tang Yun’s younger brother and the favored second young master of the Tang Family. His parents’ violent marriage ended with their deaths in a car accident; shortly after visiting Spirit Blessing Temple at age five, he fell into the water, suffered a three-day fever, and awoke with a drastically changed personality. Tang Yun attributed this change to trauma and spent the following years fiercely indulging and protecting him. 230

For much of the story, Mingxi believes he has transmigrated into the body of a cannon-fodder villain destined to be murdered by Ye Heng at Azure Luo Bay. His memories of that supposed future make him fear Ye Heng’s resentment, especially after learning that the original Tang Mingxi had repeatedly abused and humiliated him. 2 3 12

Despite that fear, Mingxi begins changing the expected plot. He works successfully at a Wall Street venture-capital firm before returning to China as “Ye Xi,” joining Jushun Venture Capital’s Risk Management Department in Cloud Capital. 85 104

Mingxi eventually reconciles with Ye Heng, resumes his place within the Tang and Ye families, and prepares to marry him. 152 175 At Spirit Blessing Temple, recovered memories reveal that he is not an outsider occupying Tang Mingxi’s body: he is the original Tang Mingxi, displaced from his own body at age five after encountering a spatial anomaly.
