"Kid, you're downright pathetic!"
Ever since deciding to train a subordinate who could hold his own, Shiki had gotten Oak's approval, sought out Trafalgar Law, and begun putting him through special training.
At first, Law had been delighted to learn that a legendary pirate would be training him. This was an opportunity others could only dream of. But once the training actually began, he realized it was nothing short of hell.
Just moments ago, Shiki had kicked him dozens of meters away. The seemingly casual kick had left his whole body burning with pain, and he felt as though several ribs had broken.
Old-timers like Shiki never held back during training. As long as they made sure you didn't die, they hit you as hard as they pleased.
And this was all happening inside Law's Operation Space. Shiki required him to keep it active throughout the training. It only ended when Shiki called a halt or Law passed out.
"Your ability runs on stamina, but yours is pathetic. You start getting weak almost as soon as you activate this space. How is that supposed to work?"
"If you don't improve your endurance, it'll get you killed sooner or later!"
Shiki gave Law his assessment.
Powerful as Law's surgical ability was, its weakness was equally obvious: it consumed far too much stamina.
Shiki's solution was simple and brutal: work his stamina and endurance to the bone so he could maintain his Operation Space longer. That was why he demanded that Law keep his ability active throughout training, pushing him to his limit every time. Only then could he gradually raise the ceiling of his ability.
"I'm going to get serious now. Watch yourself, kid. Don't blame me if you lose an arm or a leg. You can reattach them yourself anyway!"
