Using the recoil from stepping on Whiscash's head, Gardevoir lightly sprang backward, its skirt tracing an elegant arc through the air, like a ballerina completing a perfect airborne turn.
It spun once in midair, bent its legs slightly, and landed steadily on a circular platform. Its red eyes calmly watched the churning water ahead, its breathing even and its posture composed.
At the edge of the field, the Gym disciples held their breaths in unison.
Just as they nervously watched Whiscash sink beneath the water, a dark-purple Shadow Ball flew in from the other side of the arena, striking the patch of bubbles that had yet to fully disperse and exploding violently.
"Boom!"
Dark-purple energy burst across the surface, throwing up murky spray and steam and stirring the silt at the bottom of the pool once more.
The blast wave spread over the water, ripples radiating outward in ring after ring. They struck the rock walls at the edge of the field and rebounded, making the entire body of water even more chaotic.
Eevee stood on a platform ten meters away, its large brown eyes fixed tightly on the rings of ripples spreading across the water. Its fluffy tail was stretched straight behind it.
Just as Eevee considered whether to follow up with another attack, a steady, clear voice came from the opposing command area, carrying undisguised admiration.
"No need to keep attacking. I lost this round."
Wallace's voice echoed through the quiet battle room, like a stone dropped into a still lake, stirring layer upon layer of silent ripples.
Eevee froze slightly as the light gathering in its mouth slowly faded.
It let out a soft breath, shifted its four little paws against the platform, then straightened up. Its large brown eyes looked toward Wallace before turning back to
