With a pop, it stuck to her head. Evan dragged her insubstantial body back.
When he returned to the hall, Nighthawk, still in human form, lay stiff on the floor, with no telling whether he was alive or dead.
A dozen or so rats had piled up in front of Goldie.
The death of the first rat seemed to have alerted something here.
Each new rat had been bigger than the last.
They had gone from the size of an adult's fist to the size of an adult's head.
Goldie had cut them all into several pieces, leaving blood all over the floor.
