"What's the point of raising useless trash like you?! You can't even get me something to eat! I'm hungry! I want food right now!"
Wapol's bloated body nearly filled the entire chair.
He had greasy dark-purple hair, an absurdly huge mouth, and a cold iron cylinder around his chin that clanked whenever he spoke.
"Prince Wapol... please..." The head chef, with heavy dark circles beneath his eyes, knelt on the floor with a miserable expression. "It's already one in the morning. All the shops at the foot of the mountain have long since closed. The blizzard outside is too fierce—we can't get out at all! Just endure a few more hours. Once it's daylight, I'll immediately buy you the finest ingredients!"
Drum Island was a winter island covered in ice all year round. There was no nightlife here, nor were there any stores open twenty-four hours a day.
Once night fell, the entire island aside from the palace sank into dead silence. No one was willing to risk freezing to death by going out into a blizzard.
"I don't care!" Wapol slammed the table, instantly denting its surface.
"Can't they reopen their shops? Serving this prince is the greatest honor they could ever receive! You can't do it, can you?"
A vicious smile appeared on his face. His mouth suddenly opened, stretching to the size of a washbasin at an angle that defied all common sense.
"Then you can be my food instead!"
"No! Spare me, Your Highness!"
The head chef's scream came to an abrupt stop.
Wapol's throat moved as he swallowed the man whole, then licked his lips with lingering dissatisfaction.
The nearby maids and guards trembled from head to toe, lowering their heads even further. None of them dared to make a sound.
"Still not enough... I'll go find something else to eat."
Wapol patted his round belly and waddled out of the palace on his short legs.
Only after his figure completely vanished into the wind and snow did everyone in the bedchamber breathe a sigh of relief.
In the cedar forest beyond the palace walls.
Lucas hid within the black mist, having heard everything that had just happened loud and clear.
"Perfect. I'll use this piece of trash to test the Lineage Factor separation technique."
He snorted coldly. Observation Haki spread outward, instantly locking onto the bloated figure rampaging through the snow. With a burst of strength beneath his feet, his body flashed and vanished from the spot.
Heavy clouds blocked all moonlight. In the dead of night on Drum Island, one truly could not see one's hand before one's face.
Wapol did not care in the slightest. He floundered through the snow with his huge mouth open, swallowing whatever he saw along the way.
Just as he bit down on a thick cedar tree.
Bang!
A dull explosion rang out. A heart-rending pain shot through his mouth, and he was sent flying backward like a kite with its string cut. He crashed heavily into the snow, carving out a massive pit.
"Who?! Who's there?!"
Wapol clutched his bleeding mouth, his face filled with panic and terror unlike anything he had ever felt before.
His Munch-Munch Fruit could devour anything. It was the foundation of his tyranny since childhood.
This was the first time he had encountered something he could not swallow.
Blood surged forth from nowhere, pooling into a lake of crimson. A huge hand formed from blood suddenly thrust out from the pool and seized Wapol's bloated body.
"Let me go! Do you know who I am?! I'm the prince of Drum Island! If you dare touch me, my father won't let you get away with it!"
Wapol struggled desperately and screamed as he tried to use the Munch-Munch Fruit to devour the bloody hand.
But it was all futile. Unable to use Haki, he could not damage the blood at all.
Lucas slowly emerged from the black mist, hovering expressionlessly in midair. He gently raised his right hand.
An invisible force erupted instantly. The blood in Wapol's body, his Life Energy, and the unique fluctuations belonging to a Devil Fruit began leaking uncontrollably from every pore. They turned into streams of red threads that flowed into the pool of blood beneath him.
Wapol's body shriveled at a visible rate. His once smooth, pale skin became covered in wrinkles, while his jet-black hair turned gray in an instant. In mere seconds, a young man had become a frail old man in his twilight years.
The light in his eyes rapidly dimmed before finally vanishing completely.
Lucas ignored the shriveled corpse on the ground.
He held his breath and focused, concentrating all of his spiritual power within the pool of blood.
Following the method Kureha had taught him, he precisely sensed and separated the cluster of Lineage Factor emitting strange fluctuations.
The process was extremely delicate and could not tolerate the slightest mistake. One misstep, and the Lineage Factor would completely dissipate.
Several minutes later, he separated a pure mass of energy glowing purple from the pool of blood.
Lucas landed on the ground and spread open the cloth bundle he had prepared beforehand. Inside was a pile of fruit.
Drawn by the blood, the purple Lineage Factor slowly descended and entered one of the fruits.
A bizarre sight unfolded. The fruit's skin rapidly turned dark purple, a jagged seam split open across its center, and rings of distinctive black spiral patterns gradually emerged across its surface.
After finishing, Lucas waved his hand. The remaining pure Life Energy in the pool of blood turned into a red streak of light and poured into his body.
A faint warm current spread through his entire body. Lucas slightly raised an eyebrow, a trace of disdain appearing on his face.
Absorbing all of Wapol's Life Energy had only improved him as much as a day of basic training.
As expected, trash was still trash.
He struck a match. Its faint flame danced in the darkness, illuminating the newly born Devil Fruit in his hand.
"Paramecia Munch-Munch Fruit."
TO BE CONTINUED
(PS: I expect some readers will bring up the Fungus-Fungus Fruit, but this plot came from a TV special. It was original content and not part of the manga canon.)
There was no such person in the manga canon. Even the relationship section of Wapol's Baidu Encyclopedia entry did not include this person.
This book's basic framework followed the manga, and its power scaling was based on manga feats. To pad out the runtime, the TV version reversed the strengths and weaknesses of many characters.
To add more content, movie characters such as Zephyr, Bullet, Gild Tesoro, and Uta would also appear.
Golden Lion had become canon in the manga, while Uta at least had a silhouette in Luffy's manga flashback. Strictly speaking, the only purely movie-exclusive characters were Bullet, Zephyr, and Gild Tesoro.
All three had origin stories written by Oda that were sold when their films were released.
The other movies did not receive that treatment.)
