Observation Haki

Observation Haki detects presences, hostile intent, and incoming danger. Lucas uses it to sense an intruder inside his shack, while Issho detects an approaching hostile fleet through the malice of its members 1 96.

• Can anticipate an attack’s direction and intensity fractions of a second before it lands 41.
• Enables users to locate targets that would otherwise be difficult to find, such as Lucas locating trapped women beneath ice 51.
• May be countered by Observation Killing, which conceals a user’s presence from Observation Haki; Shanks uses this against Lucas 197.
• Observation is not the only possible tracking method. Lucas can still detect Shanks through Life Energy after Observation Killing takes effect 197.
• Can detect emotional fluctuations. The Commander-in-Chief reads Hiyori’s agitation and inexperience through Observation Haki while planning to target her 231.
• Can perceive dangerous Haki concentrations on weapons, as Borsalino does when Lucas prepares Divine Departure 208.
• Works without direct visual contact. Robin closes her eyes and locates Gion behind her during training, while Stussy searches for Ochoku after his teleportation 187 249.

Armament Haki

Armament Haki forms defensive armor around the body or weapons and allows attacks to contend with Devil Fruit abilities. It can be hardened externally, flowed internally, or projected outward as force 1 48 147.

• Hardening: Coats skin, limbs, weapons, and projectiles for offense and defense. Gion hardens Kompira, while Lucas coats Dracule before confronting Borsalino 2 65.
• Flowing defense: Advanced users can direct Haki to the point of impact and disperse an attack’s force before it reaches the body 147 152.
• Emission / projection: Haki can be released as an outward shockwave. Lafitte uses emitted Armament Haki alongside Hasshoken, while Stussy pulverizes bullets with projected force from her claws 60 98.
• Internal suppression: A surge of Armament Haki can suppress Devil Fruit effects inside the user’s body, including Lucas’s blood manipulation 41 48.
• Ability resistance: Haki can negate or weaken supernatural effects, but doing so consumes reserves and may leave a brief opening in combat 48 72.
• Weapon protection: Armament Haki can prevent weapons from being destroyed by extreme heat, as demonstrated when Gion cuts Don Accino despite his heat-based defenses 137.

Conqueror’s Haki

Conqueror’s Haki is an innate quality rather than a skill obtainable through training alone. Kaido describes it, alongside an exceptional physique, as an “admission ticket” for the strong 4.

• Its basic release creates overwhelming mental pressure that can knock unconscious weaker targets across a wide area 2 11 52.
• Lucas first awakens it during childhood trauma; Yamato later awakens it while trying to shield him from Queen 2 57.
• Its strength is shaped by the user’s spirit and resolve. Lucas’s conviction to live freely and protect others’ dreams advances his Conqueror’s Haki toward physical destruction 41.
• Conqueror’s Haki consumes mental strength more heavily than the other types because of its direct mental-shock effect 100.
• Users of Conqueror’s Haki Infusion can sense the aura of others with the same disposition, including those who have not yet fully mastered the technique 4.

• It cannot be mastered through analysis or imitation alone; Lucas fails to reproduce Whitebeard’s technique despite studying it for seven days 150.
• Extreme physical and mental pressure is presented as necessary for the final breakthrough 150 157.
• Its visual effect is described as thread-like black-red lightning that compresses toward the user rather than spreading outward 100 153.
• Infused attacks can erode or shatter powerful Haki defenses, as Lucas’s copied Divine Departure does to Shanks 197.

Lucas’s instruction emphasizes calming the mind, sensing dormant Haki, and guiding its flow rather than treating it as a static coating. He provides Lafitte with written Haki and Rokushiki training methods and later teaches Scarlet to perceive and direct the power 37 96.

Yamato’s experience distinguishes building a foundation from achieving a breakthrough. Seven years in the Time Spirit Room provide physical maturation and experience, but barely advance her Haki or Devil Fruit development. Repeated strain in actual combat with Lucas makes her Haki rise and ultimately brings about her infusion breakthrough 224.
