Ch. 41Master Swordsman Realm

Lina broke through into the Master Swordsman realm during the battle and turned the tide against the Baroque Works agents. With the other enemies defeated, Ener faced Mr. 1, who blocked his opening strike.

  • Lina unleashed a Flying Slash that cut through the enemies and obstacles around her, defeating Miss Doublefinger and breaking into the Master Swordsman realm.
  • Zoro watched Lina's breakthrough in disbelief, then renewed his determination to fight Mr. 3 and Mr. 5.
  • Lina charged at Mr. 2 while he was occupied fighting Gin.
  • Ms. Valentine, Miss Doublefinger, and numerous lackeys were defeated, leaving the remaining enemies unable to threaten Ener's group.
  • Ener used Shave to close in on Mr. 1 and attacked him with Sandai Kitetsu, but Mr. 1 blocked the strike with Palm Slash.

Ch. 42Crocodile's Fury

Ener and his allies wiped out Baroque Works’ forces at Whiskey Peak, and Crocodile learned that his organization had suffered a devastating defeat. Crocodile vowed revenge against the Holy Land’s plotters and ordered Robin to locate their underlings, while Robin asked what he planned to do about Ener.

  • Ener used Armament Hardening to strike Mr. 1, then killed him with Oni Aura: Asura—Purgatory Oni Giri.
  • Gin, Zoro, and Lina defeated Mr. 2, Mr. 3, and Mr. 5; Ener’s forces killed several Baroque Works members, captured the wounded survivors, and took their Devil Fruit users’ Seastone-cuffed prisoners aboard ship.
  • Ener’s crew looted more than four hundred million from Whiskey Peak and the executives’ ships, bringing their total funds to seven hundred million before sailing on after a day’s rest.
  • Crocodile learned that Mr. 1 and the other Baroque Works executives had been wiped out and smashed a table in fury.
  • Crocodile concluded that three people from the Holy Land had engineered the setback and threatened to kill them if they left the Holy Land.
  • Crocodile ordered Robin to find the locations of those people’s underlings, and Robin agreed before asking what he would do about Ener.

Ch. 43Promotion to Commodore

Sengoku and Vice Admiral Tsuru decided to recruit Ener and promote him to Commodore, appointing him Governor of the East Blue. Burns told Ener that his promotion had brought honor to his adoptive father and attracted the Celestial Dragons’ attention.

  • Crocodile asked Robin to find Ener’s real information so he could settle the debt for Mr. 1 and the others after dealing with the Holy Land.
  • Smoker reported Ener’s abilities and accomplishments in the East Blue to Sengoku and recommended recruiting him into the Marines.
  • Sengoku and Vice Admiral Tsuru agreed to bring Smoker back to Headquarters and promote Ener three ranks to Commodore and Governor of the East Blue.
  • Sengoku also promoted Lina to Lieutenant Colonel, Roronoa Zoro and Gin to Major, and left the East Blue Inspector General position for the Holy Land to decide.
  • Burns called Ener and told him about his new rank and appointment, adding that even the Celestial Dragons had been asking about him.

Ch. 44Zoan—Mythical Species—Nine-Clawed Golden Dragon—Dragon Ancestor Form Fruit

Ener claimed Conqueror's Haki, six Six Powers techniques, and the Nine-Clawed Golden Dragon Devil Fruit, which raised his physical abilities to Vice Admiral level. He then discussed the three-billion tribute and East Blue politics with Burns, proposing Cactus Island as the site of a Four Seas Exchange.

  • Ener claimed his rewards and chose the Zoan—Mythical Species—Nine-Clawed Golden Dragon—Dragon Ancestor Form Fruit over the Cloud-Cloud Fruit and Soundwave Fruit.
  • Ener's new character panel showed Vice Admiral-level Doriki, speed, and body, along with beginner Conqueror's Haki and the Dragon Ancestor Form Fruit.
  • Burns warned Ener that rivals might move to seize the Chief Inspector General of East Blue position, and Ener told him to put Gin's name forward.
  • Ener and Burns discussed using a pirate to undermine anyone who took the position and agreed that Ener still needed to deliver three billion to the Celestial Dragons.
  • Ener asked Burns to seek Cactus Island if they lost the East Blue governorship, and proposed establishing a Four Seas Exchange there to connect merchants and earn fees and price differences.

Ch. 45The Five Elders Were Alarmed

Ener and Burns planned to make the Celestial Dragons sponsor the Four Seas Exchange and charge tolls to ships passing Cactus Island. Meanwhile, Ener learned the Worst Generation’s bounties, and the Five Elders considered the proposal’s promise and risks.

  • Ener proposed charging tolls to anyone passing through Cactus Island, while blaming the Celestial Dragons for the plan.
  • Burns agreed to persuade the Celestial Dragons to present the proposal to the World Government themselves.
  • Ener read a newspaper listing the Worst Generation’s members and bounties, including Monkey D. Luffy at 40 million Beli and Jewelry Bonney at 1.1 billion Beli.
  • The Five Elders reviewed the proposal and saw its potential to control the Four Blues’ economy, but worried that powerful forces in three of the seas would resist it.

Ch. 46Jinbe

Ener encountered Jinbe at sea and learned that Jinbe had come to fight him over Arlong’s death, though Jinbe seemed to be acting under pressure. They moved to a deserted island, where Jinbe attacked first and Ener countered with Iron Body: Utsugi.

  • Nami spotted Jinbe half-emerged from the sea, and Ener recognized him as a powerful Shichibukai.
  • Ener stopped Gin, Zoro, and Lina from attacking, then jumped into the water to meet Jinbe.
  • Jinbe realized Ener had Fish-man blood after seeing him swim and noticed his Fish-man traits.
  • Jinbe asked whether Ener had killed Arlong, and Ener admitted it while explaining that Arlong’s crimes had made his death necessary.
  • Jinbe said he still had to fight Ener, and they agreed to battle on a nearby deserted island rather than in the water.
  • Jinbe opened the fight with Fish-man Karate: Five Thousand Brick Fist, and Ener used Iron Body: Utsugi to counter.

Ch. 47Duel

Ener and Jinbe tested each other’s strength as Ener demonstrated his Iron Body techniques, evasive skills, and swordsmanship. After Jinbe urged him to continue, Ener suspected someone powerful had sent the Shichibukai to assess him and decided to reveal more of his abilities to gain authority.

  • Jinbe struck Ener, but Ener’s Iron Body: Hollow Wood rebounded the blow and injured Jinbe’s fist.
  • Ener used Iron Body: Shatter to punch Jinbe back, then endured Jinbe’s 7,000 Tile Roundhouse Kick with Iron Body: Steel.
  • Jinbe fired a Water Shot, which Ener avoided with Paper Art, and Ener assessed the limits of his Iron Body against Jinbe’s strength.
  • Ener used Shave to approach Jinbe, who tracked him with Observation Haki and attacked with Water Shot: Rainstorm.
  • Ener drew Sandai Kitetsu and froze Jinbe’s water columns with One-Sword Style: Ice Tiger, but Jinbe redirected the slash.
  • Jinbe challenged Ener to show more of his strength, and Ener suspected that Sengoku or the Five Elders had ordered the test.

Ch. 48First Injury

Ener and Jinbe fought at full strength, and Jinbe injured Ener for the first time, forcing him to recognize the danger of becoming overconfident. Before their battle could reach a conclusion, a mysterious black-robed man arrived and used a powerful suction force to drag them toward him; Ener and Jinbe counterattacked together, exposing a flaw in the man's hand seals.

  • Ener unleashed Oni Aura: Oni Giri, and Jinbe met the sword wave with Fish-man Karate: Five Thousand Brick Fist.
  • Ener tried to strike Jinbe from the side, but Jinbe dodged, threw him into the ground with Tide Pull Ippon Seoi Nage, and gave him his first injury.
  • Ener reflected on his overconfidence, then resumed fighting Jinbe with Oni Aura: Oni Flash as they clashed in an even battle.
  • A mysterious black-robed man appeared and used a powerful suction force against Ener and Jinbe.
  • Ener planted Sandai Kitetsu in the ground and urged Jinbe to attack the man's hand seals; their combined strikes caught him off guard and exposed a flaw.

Ch. 49Armament Haki Emission

Ener tested his sword-drawing attack against Jinbe, who countered it with Armament Haki Emission and ended their sparring match. Ener left for his ship, marveling at how quickly his Zoan Devil Fruit healed his injuries.

  • Ener thanked Jinbe for his advice and asked him to take another attack.
  • Ener used his sword to create nine indistinguishable figures and charged Jinbe from all sides.
  • Jinbe unleashed Fish-man Karate: Karakusagawara Seiken, blasting Ener back and dispersing his eight phantoms.
  • Ener recognized Jinbe's technique as Armament Haki Emission, and Jinbe called an end to their exchange.
  • Ener watched Jinbe leave, then headed to his ship as his Zoan Devil Fruit rapidly healed his injuries.

Ch. 50Irresistible Temptation

Ener visited the prisoners aboard his ship as they approached the Devil's Triangle, where Vivi revealed her identity as Alabasta's princess and asked for his help against Crocodile. Igaram offered money and two Devil Fruits, then whispered an additional secret that left Ener delighted.

  • Ener went to the cages after Miss Valentine called out and asked what the prisoners could offer to earn his trust.
  • Miss Valentine offered to join Ener's crew, but Vivi spoke up to prevent herself from being sent to Impel Down.
  • Vivi revealed that she was Nefertari D. Vivi, Alabasta's princess, and suspected Crocodile of causing the kingdom's drought and rebellion.
  • Igaram identified himself as captain of Alabasta's Royal Guard and offered Ener two hundred million Beli and two Devil Fruits.
  • Igaram whispered a further offer to Ener, who reacted with wild delight and asked if it was true.
